Madrid, second night 20th april 2010

1. no way
2. sacred trickster
3. calming the snake
4. anti-orgasm
5. walkin' blue
6. stereo sanctity
7. malibu gas station
8. leaky lifeboat
9. what we know
10. antenna
11. catholic block
12. poison arrow
13. massage the history
--
14. the sprawl
15. cross the breeze
--
16. candle
--<thurston noise radiotape, screamings, feedback, etc>--
17. death valley '69

crazy Eternal show, first time i see kim being alone playing some noise at the end of the show. the show seemed to be finished at the end of Candle, but Thurston made amazing noise radiotape and screamnigs and feedback: the band returned to attack a terrific version of death valley '69, the highlight for me.

it was less crowded second night, i think partly because champions league and partly it was second night. I did get the setlist (thx i appreciate it).

ending: it looked like they might be ready to ditch this song, but thurston decided to call them back to the stage, the crowd response was doing the pogo pit dance, it was the best moment of the tour so far i think...

also i will add they were distributing the posters from the CA2M show for free at both shows, these are the nice big posters, that was really nice of the museum to do that.

on to Portugal...

my alltime favourite football team.
I still have the Barca shirt with Romario 10 on its back that I got in 1992 when I was in Barcelona. Too bad it's too small for me now, as i was a 12yo kid back then.

silverfreepress (sdasher) 04.21.2010 07:39 AM

i don't think there's a tape on the tape/radio bit. I think it's just a standard am/fm radio that gets tuned to whatever local radio station it can pick up.

greenlight 04.21.2010 08:00 AM

Georgekrz are you taping them shows????

Alan ciccone 04.21.2010 06:25 PM

slightly annoyed that I missed these Greatest hits setlists.

whorefrost 04.07.2015 07:17 PM

On a nostalgia trip for some reason (watching the last ever SY show in Brazil again) and something drew me back to this cursed thread... :-(

maropi 04.07.2015 07:31 PM

My not-very-good but-interesting-enough videos from that Barcelona gig:

whorefrost 04.07.2015 07:45 PM

Man, I think I'll skip those. It was the Madrid gigs I had tickets for. Both nights. Fucking Icelandic Volcano.

Just watched the last SY show in full. Never had before, only Brave Men Run, then skipped through the rest.

Damn.

Feel affected.

Peace to all my SYG brothers and sisters through the years.. from here, from Saucerlike message boards, from Sonic Youth Echo Canyon email group from the late 90s. Peace out to current SYG, feels like I'm gonna take one of my periodic hiatuses but I'll likely be back some day if this shit is still around (doubtful)

Peace!

greenlight 04.08.2015 02:14 PM

shit, I completely forgot about what a great setlist I missed because of that volcanic ash all over western Europe back in 2010 + sensational fix!
