Apparently this is the Black Friday version. Cause we need more things to spend money on that weekend.

Some things to remember:
Record Store Day and Black Friday are different things. Here's an FAQ on some of the ways they are different.

[...]

Q: Is Black Friday really Record Store Day II?

A: No. The special releases for Record Store Day are made to be sold solely at independently owned record stores on the day that Record Store Day takes place in April, whereas Black Friday releases are made for the holiday season. This means stores will launch the special releases on Black Friday but may choose to carry them beyond Black Friday (as supplies last).

These independently owned record stores/shops will also choose whether or not they want to sell their Black Friday releases on their websites to draw attention to the fact that many of them offer an excellent customer service option for those who wish to support independently owned record stores via internet purchases during the holiday season and beyond.

The "Black Friday" add-on has been around for a while now. I think this is its third (?) year. Anyway, my main independent record store doesn't participate because of acute hipsterdom and wanting to appeal to the youngens in the college town where it happens to be located. So.. probably gonna just do "Buy Nothing Day" this year... on account of there being noting to buy.

Overall I don't either one all that much. What they need is some sort of rewards program. You know, the more you spend and support any particular shop during the year......you either get:

A) some things free

or

B) first choice on Record Store Day releases before they are made available to the general public......(not to hoard multiples).

For me to spend $$$ per month all year long and miss out on the Black Friday event because I have a family and we're away at Grandma's for the Holiday weekend is ludicrous!

I agree. It's a stupid day to do it on.
