It's going to be on any moment now. I wonder what they will play.....

TheDom 07.12.2006 12:00 AM

Ehh, I wasn't impressed..

Pax Americana 07.12.2006 12:01 AM

Incinerate, figures. Oh well, that was pretty cool. I wonder how many songs they played for the live audience???

GrumpyOldMan 07.12.2006 12:02 AM

I got the feeling like the crowd didn't know what they were getting. Everybody just stood around. Or is that what I should expect when I see Sonic Youth in a few weeks?

It didn't even sound that good. It seemed very quiet. That's probably not the right word but it just didn't feel right.

qprogeny79 07.12.2006 12:03 AM

playing the same song at two different tv appearances sucks. they know they have hyper-diehard fans who watch these things religiously. they did the same thing in MMIV with unmade bed.

and did anyone else notice how kimmel shortchanged their career to "23 years" and "over 15 albums?"

GrumpyOldMan 07.12.2006 12:08 AM

Yeah I noticed that too. Why are Kim's vocals so low in the mix? Now I can hear Thurston's guitar. Argh! Well, time to watch Conan....

schizophrenicroom 07.12.2006 12:11 AM

They only showed Reena over the fucking credits :(

I really wish they could have played something else, but oh well. Thurston didn't sound too well.

they also played Pattern Recognition on Craig Kilborn in 04, so there is some variety, i wouldn't count out them changing the song when they play Conan

also that was one of the best guests on a SY performance i have seen, Tracy Morgan was on fire, and Kimmel is slightly funnier then i thought

Cantankerous 07.12.2006 12:18 AM

FUCK, did they play already?

Cantankerous 07.12.2006 12:24 AM

God, this is further proof that Jimmy Kimmel is made out of wax.

Daddylikes 07.12.2006 12:25 AM

Dude. Anyone that knows what Sarah Silvermans sweaty poonanni smells like is cool with me.

acousticrock87 07.12.2006 12:26 AM

What the hell? What time was it on? Is it different for other time zones?

Cantankerous 07.12.2006 02:20 AM

The band sounded great (if they were even actually playing), but the vocals were pretty bad.

Cat Tank?

SubSonicPumpAction 07.12.2006 02:45 AM

it was good. They played pretty much the same set they played at little radio. It was great to see catholic block and shaking hell again.

SubSonicPumpAction 07.12.2006 02:57 AM

I was wondering if anyone noticed how thurston had to start the lyrics early in incinerate. Listen to it it's off.

acousticrock87 07.12.2006 02:57 AM

"They cam together more than 23 years ago"? Why didn't he just say 25 years ago?

And ya, the vocals don't sound that good. Eh. Off night.

I didn't notice the lyrics thing.

Cantankerous 07.12.2006 02:59 AM

I did notice that Incinerate was off.

noisemachine 07.12.2006 11:23 AM

Heres the setlist (I may have the order a bit off) of the entire concert, although only the first two were televised. Jimmy and Sara Silverman were sitting off to the side of the stage and Thurston made a comment thanking Sara for the DVD and then how he wanted Jimmy to die so he could marry his hot fucking wife or something like that.

Incinerate
Reena
What a Waste
Rats
Rapture
Catholic Block
Jams Run Free
Pink Steam
Shaking Hell

Yeah I noticed that. How was the crowd those that went? It's cool they played all those songs for y'all.

noisemachine 07.12.2006 04:12 PM

The crowd wasn't too big. I was in the back, right by where Jimmy stands to announce the band, and it was perfect even from where I was. Everyone was really energetic and seems like everyone had lots of fun. I was only expecting them to play 4 or 5 songs so I was pleasantly surprised when they did 9.
