Boxing - Does anyone watch it/do it?

Are there any boxing fans knocking around?

My favourite fight is Eric Morales Vs Marco Antonio Barrera 1.

followed closely the The Thrilla in Manilla

Who are your favourite boxers?
What are your favourite fights?

I like it a lot

Fave boxers: currently Canelo but love 80s-era middleweights (Hagler, Hearns, Duran, Leonard).
Fave fight: has to be Hagler v Hearns, aka 'The War'.

i learned a bit at a boxing gym ages ago. it was good fun and the training is tough as fuck. not good to get your head rattled though. man. i had to quit cuz i was in school. no future in brain damage.

as for watching, no since it’s all pay per view and not sure for what. cable-only stuff, scams, waiting all night, fuggeddaboutit

edited cuz i made a mess: ali sonny liston 1. the ali-frazier-foreman fights.

also when mano de piedra got punked by sugar ray leonard ha ha ha. for the comedy. google duran leonard no mas. it’s on youtube.

greatest boxer ever i think for me was mike tyson though. he was like a fucking comic book supervillain. i mean. dont think the world had ever seen such power before. made the fights so short though.

after tyson i lost track, sorry.

Vasyl Lomachenko all the way these days. he is technically best boxer there is at the moment. absolutely amazing. if you have not see him boxing please youtube him and watch it. brilliant.

I am starting doing some boxing at the moment, always wanted to learn how to box before, so I guess it is never too late. those cardio three minutes rounds are neverending and exhausting. I can not wait to start learning techniques and then finally some light sparings.

I like watching boxing. I don't have any interest in heavyweight boxing, all that hype for those matches that rarely are worth it. Much more interested in undercard fights and lower weight fights like welterweight. They tend to just be much better fights. I don't really have a favorite fighter, cause I don't really keep up with the different fighters. I just like seeing a good fight.

I am a fan of boxing, a lapsed fan. I used to love the hewvyweight bouts. I hate watching Floyd Mayweather "box"

!@#$%! 03.01.2018 10:22 AM

last night i found a youtube of mike tyson’s knockouts. it was hilarious because more than a boxing match it looked like a karate demonstration. you know, “watch the man break the board”. lol. makes for a boring fight, but what a beast.

ilduclo 03.01.2018 10:22 AM

Used to do it in early teens, bantam to featherweight. Was ok at standup, nice right and jab, took good punches, but couldn't stand up to Mexican Americans 6" shorter and 5 years older...ended up 26-6. All my losses were to left hooking Chicanos (Pipino Cuevas types). One of my all time favorites was Eusebio Pedroza, I used to emulate his right uppercut from outside move, it was devastating when it landed right.

!@#$%! 03.01.2018 03:27 PM

man i have not heard the name pipino cuevas since the dawn of time. also wilfredo benitez. good boxers.

your story of the shorter guys reminded me of this: when i used to practice in a gym i’d face this 1-head shorter older guy i’d probably had 50lbs on, and we’d spar a bit (no head hits, but sometimes a glove slips up a shoulder and feels nasty) and *i could not land a single punch*.

i’d just tire myself out hitting his shoulders and elbows till i couldn’t raise my damn gloves ha ha ha ha. damn. then he’d jab me in the plexus. then i’d tire myself some more. gloves can get sooooo heavy when you have no skills! and i had none.

There must be more GGG fans here beside me, right?

demonrail666 03.09.2018 10:59 PM

TBH I sort of missed his rise. I tend to get tunnel vision with certain boxers at the expense of others. His record speaks for itself but beyond that I just love how he seems so un-boxer-like. He doesn't look like someone capable of hitting anyone, never mind knocking them into next year.

ilduclo 03.10.2018 10:16 AM

Don't get to see much these days as it mostly pay per view in the USA.

the ikara cult 03.10.2018 06:34 PM

theres now some suggestions around Canelo's hand wraps as well, as if it couldnt be more blatant that he needed to leverage everything in his favour against GGG. Even if this isnt true he's still a massive arse for all his schenanigans over the last few years to avoid fighting GGG.

Anyone watch the Tyson Fury fight tonight? Fuck me, am I glad I didn't pay to watch that one.

Bytor Peltor 06.09.2018 11:35 PM

If Mix Martial Arts count, I try and watch that......wager on them as well $$$

h8kurdt 12.02.2018 04:52 AM

Did anyone see the Wilder/Fury fight? Being a square who chose to work Sunday I missed it. Sounds like it was a brilliant fight though, and with a contentious decision to make it a draw thrown in

Definitely gonna try and get it watched tomorrow.

Boxing: a Darwinism esque laso also used to cull the poor, gang members, drug dealers etc into something twats like me can laugh at. How does one talk about it intellectually?

Dave: 'wow he really punched him hard in the face there'
Bob: 'anar bruv, almost snapped his face in two'
Dave: 'Cock'
Bob: 'lol'

Every time I hear Tyson Fury put on his best American-hype-machine act with his Yorkshire accent I get suicidal at the cringe. Then I see legendary douchey's like Hugh Jackman ringside at cage fights and think to myself, yea. It's the loud/quiet dynamic in life form. These people are utterly necessary. *sigh

I used to watch iron Mike way back when seeing grown men beat each other up was wondrous and cool. The guy was a freak, a big rapey punchey freak and he did the rapey punchey thing better than all the other circus freaks. More like an animal. Not that it matters since I would've been at an age where eating oxo cubes was also cool, like boxing.

well, if you've ever tried, you realize it's *really* difficult to do it well. requires strength, speed, technique, intelligence, and yeah it reduces your intelligence the more you do it, but seriously, everyone dies in the end.

i tried it a while till i my head got rattled, and i realized that was not a good career path for me. (lol)

yorkshire accent: you talking about his lisp? ha ha ha.

Judging in big fights right now is a joke. I'm not the biggest Fury fan but he was robbed last night. The judge who scored it 115-111 Wilder needs investigating.
