so what does your friend say? did she/he enjoy working on this or what?

She loved the experience. She was proud of the film and tried to get us all to go see it. (I didn't - I should have)

My Left Foot.

great movie. Day-Lewis' performance is so real, it's kind of scary.

This movie doesn't have a plot. There's no real linear story and that's what makes it so good.
Anton Furst did a fantastic job when it comes to the visual aspects of the film.
Also, the movie was deliberately made to look artificial and has a 'studio set' feel to it. I like that.
A must see, in my opinion.

Watched Killer of Sheep this weekend. Excellent!
Thanks for the tip !@#$%!

The Thin Red Line

Reminded myself how much I liked that movie despite being a huge smug-twat actor bandwagon. Don't generally like war movies but I dig this one.

Tokolosh 06.10.2008 01:22 PM

War films are one of my favorite genres. The Thin Red Line is well filmed and the battles are accurate.
Interesting characters too.

When it comes to war movies though, Sam Fuller is my favorite.
Fixed Bayonets!, The Big Red One, The Steel Helmet, etc.
Relatively low-budget films with great stories
by a very underrated and rebellious filmmaker.

The Thin Red Line to me was better that Saving Private Ryan, WHile not as visceral it was just much more elegant and the battle scenes were horrific and somehow more touching.

Lsst film I saw was this:

Tokolosh 06.10.2008 01:34 PM

and... what did you think of it?

The kids in that film are amazing actors.

gmku 06.10.2008 01:37 PM

Thin Red Line is leagues ahead of Saving Pvt Ryan.

I loved it! Those kids are amazing and the fact that its a joint Iraq/Iran film was good too. I had seen it before but needed reminding of how good it is.

Rob Instigator 06.10.2008 01:42 PM

not the first 40 minutes

gmku 06.10.2008 01:56 PM

Part of Gimme Shelter last night on TV. I can only stand about the first 40 minutes of it now, though, just to see the Mussel Shoals scenes. The Altamont part feels oppressive.

I found this film very boring actually.

Mad Max:

It's probably been about 15 years since I last watched this flick. I finally got to see it without an American dub. It's got some really fantastic action and one of the most badass vengeance scenes ever.
