I only listen to this album once or twice a year, but when I do, I love it.

Yeah, you know, I haven't listened to this album in a long time, nor do I have the desire to ever again :)

A good friend of mine recently posted a bulletin selling his about 20 vinyl records. They were all pretty shitty... Jackson 5.. you know, stupid shit he's collected. But one of them was IN THE AEROPLANE OVER THE SEA. I messaged him with, "Man, that record's not as great as everyone says, but it's still probably worth holding onto right?"

And he messaged me back with, "That's the worst fucking record I own." Hahaha.

I'd much rather listen to Jackson 5. I also sorta kinda agree with you saying On Avery Island is better. Song Against Sex alone is better than anything on Aeroplane

This is definately in my top 20 albums of all time. My interest in the holocaust isn't quite as public as Jeff Magnum's but I think it's a really interesting idea for an album and he writes really well.

I gave Avery a few spins, and ....I dunno.....meh. Perhaps I compared it too much to That Monumental Masterpiece That Is ITAOVS, rather than listening to it on it's own merits.

I think they are both great, very different albums.

On Avery Island has some amazing songs. & there are a few reprisals etc. and neat transitions but you could see he was planning something he hadn't quite acheived and that was in an aeroplane over the sea.

Don't hate it because it's so well loved, you fucking assholes, it's a great album. Each song blends perfectly to the next in a way I haven't heard since Evol.

Though I think I like that instrumental song on avery island better than anything on aeroplane.

I like the more poppier songs on it. Holland 1945 and Ghost. I used to love Oh Comely but it makes me gag anymore. I agree Communist Daughter is pretty cool. The title track is also great.
