With the board glitching the fuck out rn, I'll add this followup (possibly double-)post, because I don't know if the board interface even registers new posts in threads half of the time.

I'll add this followup since the board is glitching the fuck out right now and half of the time I don't even know if the interface even registers new posts in threads. Let's shout this into the echo canyon, it just might come back.

Followup-post, because the board interface didn't register the new post in this thread.

In the absence of another Bandcamp Friday, I've noticed that many artists I'm following are offering discounts on buying their full discographies: Josephine Foster, Irène Schweizer, Thurston Moore Group, to name a few.

Please read our statement here.

Not a Sonic Youth or even a SY offshoot release, but since Hippie T put it out via his Daydream Library Series and wrote an ad-hoc message for the Bandcamp notification, eh, why not mention it:

Quote:

Daydream Library Series just released Wake-up Call by Katherina Bornefeld, check it out here.

Here's what they say about it:

Some sound-healing from the Daydream community. "Listen. Soar. Sleep. Dream. Awake into positive vibrations." -Thurston

If you thought that was a bit heavy on the flowerchildness, you haven't followed the link yet. "Instructions for listening to AngelTalk: Make yourself comfortable by sitting in lotus position"OK, no, you know what, I can't keep quoting this thing, I need to listen to Ace Of Spades again right now...

Bandcamp Friday is back, starting this Friday (August 6) and once a month for the rest of the year. Which means shit's getting worse! Because a large amount of people won't get their goddamn shot! MOTHERFUCKERS! Still, Bandcamp Friday's pretty sweet.

This thread was broken, I've recovered it by deleting this old post about. Alan Licht. Coincidentally my next post will also be about Alan Licht...

no light is a light,
no light is the true light,
and there is no light so there is a light so there is no light so there is a light!

New message was posted by Alan Licht on his bandcamp:
Quote:

Later tonight I will be adding a new release: Three Chords and a Sword: Solo Cover Versions, 1988-2021. This is a collection of rather peculiar cover songs I've done over the years, the earliest being Suicide's Rocket USA (done during the Love Child demo 4-track sessions in 1988) and the most recent being three songs recorded at home last month (Van Halen's Jump, Palace Brothers' "Stable Will", and Sonic Youth's "Tom Violence"). Three others are from live sets in the 90s and 00s. I don't know of any other album of covers by a single performer that has this wide a timespan of recording--but anyway, please check it out.

It's not online yet, check again later ....

More Alan Licht, he posted about this project which is weird as fuck, did anyone already know them?:

Title TK

Not to be confused with the Breeders' third album ...

Quote:

Title TK (Alan Licht, Howie Chen, Cory Arcangel) is a banter-only band.
Pioneers of "talk rock, the ultimate sub-genre, where the band format is retained but music-making is discarded in favor of conversation between the band members (mostly music-nerd discourse and celebrity gossip). All releases are non-audio but comes with a pdf of a transcribed conversation. RIYL: Spinal Tap

they are selling a limited edition of 50 cassette, titled
Metallic TK

Quote:

Title TK's first ever audio release! A cassette in a strictly limited edition of 50 copies. Metallic TK documents our most recent--and most raucous--performance, at the Lausanne Underground Film Festival in October 2019. Cory and Alan were there in person, Howie Skyped in. We went on at 2 in the morning, after a full schedule of electronic noise artists, and whoever was left in the audience was either wasted or an insomniac (or both). At any rate, it was the most polarized reaction in the group's history, which is saying something. Usually at a Title TK show, the audience experiences the seven stages of grief--shock and denial, pain and guilt, anger and bargaining, depression, the upward turn, reconstruction, and acceptance and hope--but in this case they just stopped at anger. You will hear us being pelted and heckled, but what you can't see is a punter running onstage to try to shut down the laptop Howie was visible on, or the one who was twerking in the audience. It makes Iggy and the Stooges' infamous Metallic KO live bootleg--which our tape's design is based on--look like Frampton Comes Alive.

1 copy per customer. No future release in any other format, be it vinyl, CD, download or streaming--the only way to hear Metallic TK, ever, is to buy the cassette while supplies last. less

only 8 are left right now, so jump on it fast if you want one still!

And Bikini Kill sez:

Quote:

What happened this week in Texas is terrifying. They have essentially banned abortion. We are deeply upset about the precedent that's being set and the vigilante justice that is being encouraged by the state.

We'll be donating all of our profits from Bandcamp Friday today to Fund Texas Choice, an organization that helps pregnant Texans who need an abortion travel out of state to get one. If you would just like to donate directly to them you can do so here.

If you are in Texas and need help, there are resources listed here.

We have many records back in stock - Revolution Girl Style Now, Yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah, Reject All American, and The Singles as well as a preorder for a Pussy Whipped cassette up today, only on our Bandcamp.

And Julia Kent sez:

Quote:

Hello,

I'm releasing a new track, "Glint and Fade," with all proceeds going to Madre.org to support their work with grassroots women's organizations in Afghanistan, Haiti, and around the world.

This Bandcamp Friday, I'm also participating in the Leaf Label's initiative to donate all revenue to the British Refugee Council and Refugee Action. You can get 10 percent off most of Leaf's catalogue with the discount code BF10.

Hope you all are well and safe. Thanks so much to Bandcamp and to all of you!

And whoever wrote this about Noveller sez:

Quote:

Combining her love of all things Twin Peaks with her emotive guitar playing, attention to detail and cinematic instincts, Noveller delivers something truly delicate and haunting and precious with her cover of Angelo Badalamenti’s theme song for the show.

Continuing their string of video collaborations, Sarah Lipstate draws the somber notes out in front of director George Griffith’s watchful camera. Griffith’s name should awaken Twin Peaks fans, as the actor/director memorably portrayed the devilish right hand man Ray Monroe in Twin Peaks: The Return. The pair traveled to Washington, visiting landmarks from the show and filming in the recreated Black Lodge of superfan Jason Mattson. Mattson sourced and built everything for the room on his own, and did so with such perfection that the Showtime production actually used his chair for filming. Lipstate settles into the exact same spot that Kyle MacLachlan couldn’t seem to leave as Agent Dale Cooper.

The video, with a surprise ending, is a clear love letter to the program, yet Lipstate’s magnetic presence takes center stage. Her instrumental version, working from the guitar arrangement by Arrigo Martelli, finds emotional depth and a tentative apprehension that even the original could only hint at.

Released exclusively for Bandcamp Friday, Twin Peaks Theme is backed with a Red Room remix, and is available immediately for download and a limited vinyl release.

Little reminder: Coming Friday, Sept. 2nd is a Bandcamp Friday.

Also, on a related note: I'm dropping a single for BF. It's a lo-fi homage to some of the NY-based Minimal Synth pioneers. I figure if you like acts like Ike Yard, you might enjoy the tune.

Happy Bandcamp Friday!

My new single "190 Bowery" is up on my Bandcamp page now.

I've also released a Lyrics Video (CW: rapid sequence of images, flashing lights)

hipster_bebop_junkie 10.29.2022 12:43 AM

"Saint Vitus Dance": Demolishing collaboration between MoE (Guro Skumsnes Moe, Håvard Skaset and Devin Brahja Waldman), and Martín and Oscar Escalante.

I hope a tour in Mexico to promote this album is imminent. I would ditch my job and everything to go after some of this brutality and beauty.

Boundless and ever prolific they also have a new record out with UK noise-punks Bruxa Maria.
