For what it's worth, this is from the recent David Fricke review of a Thurston gig:

Unmentioned during the evening: the fate of Sonic Youth. He and bassist Kim Gordon separated last year, after 24 years of marriage. Moore did not play any of his compositions for the band in this show. But before the music started, he sent birthday wishes to Sonic Youth guitarist Lee Ranaldo, who was in the audience. Notably, Moore referred to him as "my bandmate," suggesting the present tense is still in effect.

I think thats really cool. Not sure if its a clear presentation of a still existing sy, but maybe. Cool he said that ether way.

since a lot of post "This Aint No Picnic" SY material was written on an acoustic that actually would be pretty sweet! I LOVE to play tunes from Sonic Nurse or even 1000 Leaves on the acoustic, it brings out the musicality of their tunes, that its not just noise, feedback and thrash, but sincerely crafted art that is even translatable..
