Well if you're looking for satire I'm out. Read a piece in the Guardian a couple of weeks ago that basically said that satire is dead when it couldn't be riper for it. https://www.theguardian.com/culture/...cci-few-laughs

I watched Cuckoo's Nest a month or so back and goddammit. You keep thinking "The window is open!! Just leave now, for god's sake!" then we all know how it goes. Again.

satire does not work if the audience is too dull or too brainwashed to understand it is satire....

The Producers seems appropriate. Also The Great Dictator.

yes-- but it has a hero who gives you a heartfelt speech. i need something a little more take-no-prisoners cynical to go with the holiday spirit haaa haaa haa.

kinda like brazil. hm... brazil for sure-- MERRY CHRISTMAS!... and terry gilliam... 12 monkeys again?

also gonna rewatch cabin in the woods. so great.

some john waters definitely. haven't seen female trouble in AGES.

bleak laughter, i need bleak laughter at the void

pepper_green 11.22.2016 10:39 PM

^ha! expect to kill some brain cells in the process.

CB4 is awesome and Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice is a great companion piece.

I mean, all those movies call for massive amounts of pot. some can survive others can't.

tw2113 11.23.2016 01:19 AM

Down Periscope...best role Rob Schneider ever had.

(originally posted this in the wrong thread)

i'm having a hard time following this rocky horror thing 100% but it has some hilarious parts

demonrail666 11.23.2016 03:40 PM

Rocky Horror is more an event than a film. The whole audience participation thing is central to its cult status. As a film in its own right it really doesn't work at all. I suggest you simply slip into some lingerie and start talking back to the screen if you wanna get the best from it.

noisereductions 11.23.2016 03:43 PM

Rocky Horror is pretty meh. There are far better "so bad they're good" films. This one just happened to get the cult following.
