Suggest alternative artwork for Sonic Youth albums

Okay, you don't neccesarily have to dislike the album cover, but are there any images you've come across which you think would be more apt to suit the music on a particular Sonic Youth album?

Before anyone has any bright and clever ideas, let us get this out of the way:

RATHER RIPPED

Okay, now down to business, I think this Rauschenburg image would suit A Thousand Leaves very well. Partly becuase I've always thought the artwork for ATL pretty lame, and this peice, from his Whorefrost series (I beleive) is delicate, sensitive yet raw just like the album is for the most part.

I've always thought this would be a good cover for Bad Moon Rising:

Weird. The artwork for A THOUSAND LEAVES is so fitting I think. I relate certain sounds to color. And that album is pink. I'm not being funny. I'm being serious.

Also. BAD MOON RISING and EVOL sport the 2 most awesome and fitting covers ever.

the ATL artwork is certainly not weak. it's perfect.

mil_pl 10.30.2008 04:10 AM

I agree with atl artwork, also i like murray st which fits to music too.

noisereductions 10.30.2008 07:18 AM

yeah, mil's right. MURRAY ST's is perfect. As is NYCG&F.

And to go back to the first post, the RATHER RIPPED bashing is getting really old. Either say something new about the record, or go write for Pitchfork y'all.

I don't think This Is Not Here was saying Rather Ripped is a terrible album, he just posted that to get it out of the way, before anyone else could post something like that.

yeah I wasnt attacking This Is Not Here. I hope everyone knows that. I was attacking "trendy-sy-boarder-who-likes-to-diss-Rather-Ripped-to-prove-he-liked-Sonic-Death-when-you-were-still-in-short-pants"
