Kim Gordon is featured rather prominently in The Punk Singer, a documentary feature on Kathleen Hanna.

I want to see this, saw an article about in the LA Weekly. I think Bikini Kill's first two records might be the best punk records by a predominantly female group, ever, and that riotgrrl era produced some all-time gems, but the fierceness, the aptness, the uniqueness of those two records (which were rightfully reissued as a single CD) is unparalleled greatness which should be celebrated. Had women ever even voiced such an attitude on an album before? I mean, seriously, it was everything so many women wanted to say, yet felt compelled not too, and then Kathleen Hanna and Tobi come out swinging. The best part is they were by no means "man-haters" considering Tobi's several "famous" boyfriends and the fact that their guitar player was a dude, and not the self-hating kind.

Robert Christgau's original review of Bikini Kill:

Bikini Kill [Kill Rock Stars, 1992]
As usual when a punk band does the trick, the secret isn't just magic. It's ideas, like the way Kathleen Hanna slips into the cockney "roights" on "Double Dare Ya," or the weary "Fine fine Fine fine Fine fine Fine fine" that ends "Suck My Left One," which I'd say is about learning to make something of sexual victimization and then learning that it's still no fun, but I could be wrong, which is why we need this band even if we don't believe racism and eating meat are, and I quote, "the same thing." Poly Styrene discovers ideology. Ideology discovers Poly Styrene. A-
