Rancid

Anyone like them at all?

LifeDistortion 03.26.2006 08:25 PM

I used to be into them. Thier first three albums weren't that bad.

samuel 03.26.2006 08:28 PM

I remember getting one of their albums for Christmas and I never listened to it. Maybe I should find it?

HaydenAsche 03.26.2006 08:29 PM

No. Don't find it. Rancid blows.

Spanks 03.26.2006 08:48 PM

I dont care what anybody says Ruby Soho is the jam ;)
and yes ...and outcome the wolves... im my opinion is there best album there newest one wasnt so bad either i think it was that the hits off it werent so good ..well red hot moon was ok but fall back down wasnt that good

and out come the wolves is a great album, i still listen to it, not that much lately. it was also my first brush with an indie label, i remember how excited i was to open the cassette and find their mail order catalog. i thought "wow!! they are so punk, only a few bands are sold in stores and for the real deal you have to order it" little did i know...

the last good album i heard of them was the 5th album, it was ok, not that good. now, they are horrendous; they must think they are very punk by turning down a million dollar contract in the mid-90's but settling for a worse deal when they became has-beens.

it might also hurt that not only your girlfriend sold more records than you having been in a band for least time and having less records released andf have her publictly cheat on you

I think he's going to need some Aloe Vera for that BURN!

krastian 03.26.2006 11:42 PM

I used to listen to them.....I'd rather listen to OP Ivy though.

Everyneurotic 03.26.2006 11:46 PM

op ivy were awesome!!!!!

krastian 03.27.2006 12:06 AM

They are great to drink to at a party.

dietzer123 03.27.2006 01:34 AM

sweet band. love the bass lines. best punk rock bassist of all time

Spanks 03.27.2006 02:59 PM

yeah he definatley is really good

Inhuman 03.27.2006 03:07 PM

I haven't heard their stuff yet, but my friend's giving me one of their CD's next week :)

Rob Instigator 03.27.2006 04:01 PM

I find Rancid boring, derivative, and purely incidental. I did and do enjoy OP Ivy a lot more.

rancid's matt freeman's bass technic comes from franc'o, the original bassist for mdc, a san francisco-by-way-of-austin hardcore band from the early 80's. just listen to the opening of john wayne was a nazi and you'll see what i'm talking about. i too thought he was the raddest bassist in punk until i heard mdc and learned that matt freeman was mdc's bassists in the late 80's, before joining op ivy

so i call bullshit on the argument that matt freeman is the best bassist in punk. klaus floride, steve soto and chuck dukowski (to name just three) can piss circles around any of rancid's basslines

dietzer123 03.27.2006 05:48 PM

haha, that was fun. i saw mdc a few months back live. i still maintain he's my favorite punk bassist to listen to.
