It's on planet mu, as is most of his stuff. I d/l'ed a leak, but I'm probably going to buy it, I actually buy most of his stuff. It took me a few listens to really get into it but now I love it. It's REALLY, uh... "acidy". Here's a (admittingly somewhat confusing) link either way:

(it's all in a different language, but just type in the numbers, click the green button, then click the link on the next page)

Moshe 03.25.2009 01:32 AM

i guess this is the year of rock: SY, Dino Jr., Wilco, Neil Young and maybe Built to Spill will release new tunes. New Magik Markers and Tortoise can't be bad either.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who was blown away by FOR ALL I CARE. I think "Comfortably Numb" and "Radio Cure" are total standouts. And I love the f'd up tempo changes in "Lithium."

SYRFox 03.25.2009 08:45 AM

Will mention more albums when i get home, but honestly my front runner for album of the year at this point is Neige's new album Amesoeurs -S/T. If people on this forum don't listen to this album, I might have to quit/never return.

The flaming lips cover is great too.

Nothing People "Late Night" LP
Dan Melchior und Das Menace "Thankyou Very Much" 2xLP
The Hunches "Exit Dreams" LP
Ratas del Vaticano "Mocosos Pateticos" LP
and the forthcoming Eat Skull "Wild & Inside" LP are setting bar so far...

All I see are a bunch of names. I never know what new albums to listen to unless it is a band I'm already familiar with.

atsonicpark 03.25.2009 11:53 PM

The simplest thing to do is just look up some of these artists on last.fm and if they sound interesting to you, check 'em out.

uhler 03.26.2009 12:11 AM

i just buy stuff from certain labels i like or something i have read from another source. i did that pre internet and i still do that. i almost never listen to anything before i buy it.

plus, i'm using my roommates computer so i can't download anything. soon i'll have the internet on my phone, but that doesn't help me music wise.

pbradley 03.26.2009 01:29 AM

Yeah, they're great! Someone somewhere is going to disagree with me, but it reminds me of a cross between Japanther and the Coachwhips. Who are two bands I LOVE, so.... The production, the fun keyboard farts, the simplicity, the awesome melodies, the energy, etc. Just really great stuff. One of the bands worth all the hype... to me.

yes
I must admit I never really understood the amount of hate against Franz Ferdinand. I mean they're certainly not geniuses, but I like them. I enjoyed the first one, the second was still good, and though I was expecting to hate the new one because come on, three albums of just the same thing can get really boring, well, it still works imo. A pleasant album - not really more, but not really less.
