Hi everyone, Been looking at this board for a while now, and there seem to be lots of clued up people on here. You can still buy advance tickets at the bargain price of £7 until next Saturday. Email for how to buy.

Directions to ROYAL PARK CELLARS for out of towners The Royal Park pub is super easy to get to from town, and away from when alls done, don't let anyone tell you otherwise

Getting there by rail: When you get to Leeds station, change trains onto a train to Burley Park station (one stop from Leeds station). The destination is usually Harrogate, Poppleton or Knaresborough and it usually leaves from platform number 1 or 2 (it's always best to check the departure board) They go every half hour at 29 and 59 past the hour.
The journey takes approximately 7 minutes. Leave the station and turn left at the top of the steps. Walk to the end of the road - you will see a large Co-Op on your left.
Turn right and walk down Cardigan Road for a few minutes. Cross over and turn left onto Brudenell Road, after you get past a newsagents with a 'Kit KAt logo on its sign.
Walk along Brudenell Road for about 5 minutes, until you get to a large crossroads with Hyde PArk cinema on your right and Jacksons supermarket on your left. Turn right, round the corner of the cinema entrance, onto Queens Road. Walk along here for 2 minutes, past some takeaways, until you come to a crossroads. The Royal Park pub is in front of you on the right hand side of the road. Last train back from Burley PArk to town is 23.15

Getting there by bus: Buses 56, 18, 18a or 60. (not all buses in Leeds start from the bus station, so here's not much point going there! Dumb I know! You're better finding the correct stop on the streets in the city centre)
The 56 goes from 3 stops in Leeds City centre, if coming from the train station catch it from Stand J1, on Albion Street opposite the St John's Centre. If coming from the coach station, get it from G9 on Eastgate (bottom of the Headrow)The journey takes about 10 minutes, going past the university, along the side of Hyde Park, and down a very steep hill (you can't miss it!) At the bootom of this hill you are on Queens Road, opposite the Royal Park pub. get off by the takeaway.
18 and 18a buses go from Stand S10 right outside the train station entrance (very handy!) Stand Y10 on the Headrow (opposite the Art Gallery)or stand K17 on Duncan Street (at the bottom of Briggate. I'd reccomnd getting it from The Train Station stop, its easier to find! This also takes about 10-15 minutes journey. It drives out on the main road (Burley Road) past Yorkshire television on your left. After about 8 minutes, you'll get to a really busy junction, and the bus turns sharp right and goes up a hill. Get off at the second stop up this hill. Cross over the road. Walk up the hill for about 20 yards, and on your right you'll see the Grove Curry house. just past this is brudenell road. You can then turn left into Brudenell Road, and follow the directions in 'By Train' from Brudenell Road.

Getting there by car from Leeds City Centre: Head out of town towards Headingley/ Universities on Woodhouse Lane. After you pass Leeds University on the left, turn left at the traffic lights onto Clarendon Road (the Library pub is on this junction). Turn right at the next traffic lights (Leeds Business School is opposite) onto Moorland Road. Hyde Park is on your right as you drive along Moorland Road. At the next crossroads, continue straight on (Royal Park Road) and down the hill. The Royal Park pub is directly in front of you at the bottom of the hill.

Yes, I'd be there in an instant if I was near Leeds. Mattin and Sunroof! is an interesting combo...hope someone tapes it.

Justice Yeldham is headlining!!!! That's awesome. I must have seen that guy about 7 times and only once has he not ended up bleeding. He plays a piece of glass with a contact mic attatched to it through a bunch of pedal.
He then blows, yells, hits and rubs his face on the glass to make music, usually ending in the glass breaking over his face.

It has to be seen at least once in your lifetime.

I see the, ahem, immortal Smell & Quim are making an appearance...

jon boy 04.29.2007 11:04 AM

christ the royal park cellars! that place is noisy as hell but i will be there no doubt.

whorefrost 04.29.2007 11:28 AM

Justice Yeldham is one of the single most exhilarating live performances I've ever seen. Luckily he's playing Le Weekend in Stirling next month. Kylie Minoise is really exciting as well. He was actually at a noise show we were playing in Glasgow a couple of months back and told us to send him a CD-R!

MellySingsDoom 04.29.2007 11:31 AM

Is Justice Yeldham the guy who sometimes self-harms himself?

whorefrost 04.29.2007 11:54 AM

yes.

Hopefully all the sets are going to be recorded, and a DVD released of the day. I'll also try and get mp3s up somewhere. Yep, I'm expecting great things from this collab. Apparently there are plans for Mattin and Sunroof! to record together in the very near future, so look out for that.

jon boy 06.25.2007 09:10 AM

smell and quim, 5 minutes that will live in leeds music folklore for a while.

Iain 06.25.2007 09:15 AM

When I saw Justice Yeldham it was decent but more of a spectacle because he was chewing glass. The noise emmited was alright but I wasn't keen to listen to more than the 15 or so minutes he played. He played to a bloody big crowd all things considered...I thought there would be about 20 or 30 people.

Anyway, this event was the one where Smell and Quim were a bit naughty? Did the rest of the event go ahead?

That Sunroof!+Mattin thing is out now I believe but it's limited to 250 copies. It came out on Bottrop Boy as did a straight up Sunroof! disc at the same time which is pretty good if swaying more towards Hototogisu territory.

jon boy 06.25.2007 09:30 AM

from what i hear it did go ahead but with less people playing and at a totaly different venue miles away.

farmhouse 06.25.2007 11:29 AM

i just checked out some justice yeldham on you tube after reading what had been said here . . .

suffice it to say i'm now terrified . . . and want to go to my bed.
