Finding several Phill Niblock albums I didn't know about + a video of him performing Guitar Four For Two set to his people working video and I think Alan Licht was playing. I have been wanting to see that people working video again for 14 years.

AND I tied some kid's shoes today and felt waves of mom. So good.

Have i missed some news? You have a girlfriend-girlfriend claire?

I don't know if I mentioned it here, but I guess I'm back in a relationship? I'm not even sure what's happening. It's been a whirlwind of weirdness and super intense bonding. We haven't put an official stamp on it and we haven't started being affectionate, but the magic 8 ball would probably say "outlook positive". Very very happy about it. I wasn't expecting it.

making me happy today, Ms Ild is going around finding "giving tree" items for the less fortunate among us, then going shopping and gift wrapping and bringing them to the locations so some teens can have cute warm clothes and shoes, stylish headphones and stuff. She said it "fulfills the need for shopping without the accompanying guilt"
I'm married to a great person!!

Kudos

And something that always makes me happy: Cats. Especially if you visit someone not knowing they have a pet and then facing a lovely feline that immediately takes to you.

Sorry for making this super cat-heavy, but I can't stress enough how cats really lift up my spirits when I'm down. Visited my sister again. She got two rescue kittens in summer. They've already grown a lot. And I've made some strides today. The middle one is really shy and would mostly run away when I came near. Today however she opened up and damn near wouldn't want to let me leave. It was adorable.

gettin 2 new cats coming up this weekend. Both are sort of tabby/tuxedos/calicos. Both about 8 months old. male "Sid V", we'll keep that name, female "Dutch", we're working on a new name.

Pix to come!!

_tunic_ 12.31.2019 08:01 PM

What's wrong with Dutch? :-p
You could still give her a Dutch name, e.g. Poes, Stroopwafel, Kroket, Bitterbal, Appelmoes
Or to fit with Sid V: Herman B, Bettie S, oh heck the only punkster I can think of right now is Nina H but she's German.

well, it brings to mind either Dutch Schultz or Dutch Reagan. Neither of which do I want to be reminded of. Not Nancy, either, as one of the robospam calls I get says "this is Nancy....."

we like the single syllable names, though, we've had Fern, Pearl & Bob in the past, and currently own Dot and Stella (yeah, 2 syll on Stellie, but, she's fun to call!) We already had a Nina, but she was named after Ms Simone.

I didn't know it was his nickname (and I don't think I know Schultz)

Quoting Wikipedia:

Reagan's father nicknamed his son "Dutch", due to his "fat little Dutchman"-like appearance and "Dutchboy" haircut; the nickname stuck with him throughout his youth.
So all Dutch people are fat and little? Haha. Something with pot and kettle ;-)

Dutchboy haircut might be true, I didn't know it was typical for us though, we call it a flowerpot haircut.

I'll ask my sister again to stop phoning you. She's been in therapy for it but she has fallbacks once in a while.

a funny story about that word is that in the usa it’s mostly bad spelling for “deutsch” (german)

eg. “pennsylvania dutch” for the germans that colonized the place

dutch schultz was a german jew... he wasn’t from holland

‘merica! maiming language since forever :D

I got my new bank card pretty quickly after I called for a replacement. Thank you, banking service.

Yesterday was kind of a productive day, got a lot of shit done and I was able to relieve some of the mental stress I had built up as of late. I even got to walk outside a good bit again, got to walk my 10.000 steps. Been missing that. That time of the year always asks me to force myself to do all the shit I usually do. And I got a recommendation letter from a distinguished international diplomat yesterday because I had aced an exam on negotiation, a field I usually stray away from (but having something tangible vouching for your language skills on a negotiative basis is worth a lot when you want to apply for jobs in the field of translation). So things are somewhat in motion again, in some regards literally.
