This band sound like to the kind of people who were privately tutored and classically trained in the Clarinet from the age of 5, in the 6th spare room of their parents 4th home.

I’m seriously considering seeing in Pavement in Chicago in September. Really thinking hard on it. Would like to take someone with me, and whether they can go will probably be the determining factor, as I’m still quite spooked about Covid stuff, and lots of shows continue to be canceled last minute. :/

Bertrand 04.28.2022 04:08 PM

I've been considering seeing Pavement too, in Europe, but it's rather expensive. As Primus or Queens of the Stone Age or PJ Harvey. Or former garage man Jack White.

I understand Mylène Farmer shows being expensive, as there's a lot around her, but...

I'll be seeing Los Bitchos and Kikagaku Moyo on their farewell tour.

Yeah, some of the Pavement shows have tickets staring at like $200+ and that’s fucking insane. The show I’m eyeing has tix for $65, which is still wild to me.

I have a friend who goes to concerts alone all the time and doesn’t give a single solitary fucking fuck. I’ve done it too. Maybe easier in small shows but in big shows nobody knows wtf is going on anyway so just get in there man

Considering Wavves in October (they're playing King of the Beach in full for what would've been a 10th anniversary show, but is now a 12th).

I think I’m gonna ask this person to this Pavement show and make a goddamn decision because tickets are only going to get more expensive.

Fuck you Pavement for not being together when I was 20 and going to shows every weekend and it was like $15-$25 tops to see Yo La Tengo or Sebadoh at the Showbox or whatever. FUCK!

Anyway, gonna have a decision soon

The next one that's definite is Loudon Wainwright III in Columbus,Ohio on May 10, 2023. Only Wainwright could make Mrs. Drjohnrock want to go to a gig that is 100 miles from where we live.

100 gecs in February, My Chemical Romance in March, black midi in April.

Oh shit I really need to update my past gigs list...

_tunic_ 01.18.2023 11:39 AM

Heavily considering to go to the Roadburn Festival in April.
Oiseaux Tempete is artist in residence, they'll play three shows, each focused on a certain period of their career. With special guests but no Jessica Moss so it seems.

Also playing: about a thousand other acts, including Big Brave and Brutus.

But I don't know yet, I hate festivals and I'll need to get the 4 day ticket which is 244 Euros. Which is a lot of money for just one band I really want to see. But then again, scroll upwards and Pavement costs about the same to see once ....

Diesel 02.03.2023 04:52 PM

Nowt worth gan te. All bands are shit

Preliminary thought: bar binge overdose action is in order

choc e-Claire 02.26.2023 06:53 AM

Bikini Kill, Tuesday week @ the Forum
varying artists at the Brunswick Music Festival on March 11
My Chemical Romance, March 17 @ Rod Laver Arena
Electric Indigo + Monolake, March 23 @ Elisabeth Murdoch Hall
black midi, April 1 @ the Croxton Bandroom
Modest Mouse + Slowdive + Tropical Fuck Storm + a few others, April 22 @ the Sidney Myer Music Bowl
They Might Be Giants performing all of Flood, October 7 @ the Forum

Pavement are here on Friday but I'll probably miss it because it's sold out. Guitar Wolf and the Smashing Pumpkins(???) are both playing in my shitass hometown in April, possibly worth seeing.

TFS are confirmed? Will they play without Fiona? (She's battling stage 3 breast cancer. :()

They're not travelling internationally, but apparently these three Australian shows (Melbourne/Sydney/Brisbane) are going ahead! They live in Melbourne anyway, so if any show is there it'll be this one.
I hope she recovers; I'm yet to listen to them but I see their reputation. I saw your post about them cancelling stuff and thought that'd be this one out too, but it's business as usual.

Another definite gig:

8/13/2023: "Outlaw" Music Festival--Willie Nelson/John Fogerty/Gov't Mule/Kathleen Edwards/Particle Kid

Not really a "festival", but a long concert at an outdoor venue that has set seating in addition to lawn tickets. Going primarily because I promised Mrs. Drjohnrock we would see Nelson again if he played in a non-festival setting. We saw him before at a standing-only outdoor show that had too many hassles.

The only acts I'm really interested in are Willie and Fogerty. Gov't Mule? Meh. Kathleen Edwards? Some of her set might be OK. And I hadn't heard of Particle Kid--one of Willie's kids--before this gig was announced. I'll check out some of his music before the show.

Dry Cleaning in May. If I can get out of bed, that is.

I could not attend their gig earlier this week (thanks to my coworkers being more and more demanding and extremely carefree, leading me one more time to the brink of a break down) and missed their Amsterdam show.

Hope you can, some of the shows I saw them play were really great.
