Why god why?

So of all my friends, I am getting the best compliments on the music from people with the worst taste, people that like all that neo-hardcore, pop-punk, and emocore crap. This is upsetting me. Somebody comfort me!

FREQUENCY sounds WIRE

"drowning in the big swim/ rising to the surface!/ the smell of you!"

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.19.2006 01:10 PM

Hmmm, I never thought of any of my music sounding very WIRE-like, but I can sort of see it. I could probably connect most of my musical influences to WIRE in 1 or two steps.

Shoegazer- My Bloody Valentine covered Map Ref. 41N 93W
Punk- 12xU is a punk staple
Gothic- I Should Have Known Better sounds very gothic to me
Post-hardcore- slint is influenced by them
post-punk- they are post-punk
experimental rock- A Panamanian Craze? is an awesome song
Eno/bowie/iggy sort of stuff- Chairs Missing
Early rock and roll- half of pink flag is 1/4/5

screw em all man, that song "gunslinger" is fuckin class...
love the singing. very refreshing yet scary music, i'm a little freaked out to go into the shower now...
your starting your own trend "shower murder music"
Keep it up, very very good.

WELL, i THINK IT IS THE CHORD PROGRESSION IN THE BRIDGE OF THE SONG fREQUENCY. THE SOUND DOES REMIND ME OF WIRE A BIT, THAT TYPE OF SOUND QUALITY. IT IS GOOD DUDE!

=D

I wrote that song last summer for a band that did songs about B-movies. I wrote the progression before I joined the band after seeing The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly for the first time. After our first practice we crashed and watched the Beast of Yucca Flats and were stunned by the view of the nipple you get in the first murder scene. So that is what the first verse is about. The 2nd verse was originally about shooting someone with a sniper rifle from a plain (another Beast of Yucca Flats moment) I changed it to fit into a more western mythology and added the last verse. The version I did with the old band was OK, it had a chorus and was in a different key (as suggested by the drummer) and it had lead guitar, but I like my Spectral Presence version better- the dynamics are better and the lyrics lend more to the original intent of the song.
