Hawkwind announced first North American tour in 20 years, might have to go. Never seen 'em, havn't heard anything past mid-seventies albums, but seems pretty historic. Psychedelic Warlords dissapear in smoke!
http://www.hawkwindmuseum.co.uk/tour%20dates.htm Wonder if they would tour with their vintage EMS synthi? |

Hollywood Bowl last night was mystically amazing as usual. To hear so many thousands of people sing in harmony. "Could you be loved" was about as moving as hearing them sing "Get Up Stand Up" With Bunny Wailer in 2006 or "One Love" with Ziggy in 2011. That an hearing that chorus blast out across the hillside, "Out in the streets, they call it murder!" Damien was a bit half-assed about his stage show though we appreciated bringing out the kids to be the flag waivers, but Stephen RIPPED it up with his Nyabinghi roots set list which has become his thing and it works at a mystical convergence level when playing such hand drums for 20,000 on such a loud sound system. My soul was dancing even more than my tired legs and feet! Third World were the kind of legends we expect. This show was so spiritually powerful, that I ran into a brother who became a mortal enemy (I mean this, I would have quite literally killed this man if I had ran into in 2008 when the wounds were fresh) for the past several years and we reunited as brothers to dance and celebrate together. Wow. That is the power of true, heartical, ONE LOVE! |
Kind of a badass summer/fall planned at the moment.
Flaming Lips / Tame Impala Nine Inch Nails / Godspeed You!Black Emperor ... Well, I don't care how it sounds. It's going to be great. I don't really actually care for Tame Impala. I find them extremely samey, and I'd rather see the Lips with MGMT or Foxygen. But fuck if, it's the Lips. I see them every chance I get. Haven't seen Nine Inch Nails in ... Oh god. Nevermind. I am always up for Godspeed, and I even like Explosions in the Sky. Not their records, mind. Their records are lifeless. But they can get into some surprisingly good noise jams and improvs. It's been a good year. Retribution Gospel Choir, Low, Ghostface Killah (how anyone is going to top him is anyone's guess). I'm proud of myself for being almost social. |

I was actually planning to go see Cat Power last night but didnt make it... That would've been one fun week! It's still fun though but would've been even better if I had caught Cat Power yesterday!
|
Nefeli may be one of the few to appreciate this, but I saw The Telescopes for the first time this past weekend. Totally delivered. Amazing noisy/exploratory set, not very song-oriented at all and still had teeth. Zero disappointment after waiting nearly 25 years to see them.

Smashing Pumpkins
Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds Atoms for Peace this weekend. meh, i know. i'll be there for the beer. |
