sooo... Grizzly Bear song used to sell LOTTERTY TIX????

http://music-mix.ew.com/2010/04/26/g...ar-lottery-ad/

what the fuck? I hope they got paid a lot cuz selling yr soul to a system meant to suck what little money poor-ass people have on a weekly or even daily basis should cost A LOT.

chicka 04.26.2010 09:50 AM

Yo Rob, who's the Fuppet Queen? Kinda looks like La Lo-hand with a trail of dust?

ploesj 04.26.2010 10:02 AM

yeah, they had another song in a car ad too.

i don't really care, as long as they keep making good music..

Rob Instigator 04.26.2010 10:07 AM

to chicka - tis LiLohan with added "dust"

ploesj - i just hate the lottery system. 1 in 17 MILLION chance of winning, yet "you don't win if you don't play!" gets shoved down the throats of the hopeless placing this pipe-dram of a lotto win as HOPE, pressuring people who make $6 an hour to spend nearly $10 a day sometimes on lotto tix or scratch off tix

ploesj 04.26.2010 10:16 AM

ok, you have a point there..

nicfit 04.26.2010 10:26 AM

I win lots of lotteries without playin', the proof is in my email inbox!

Rob Instigator 04.26.2010 10:31 AM

lucky!

Green_mind 04.26.2010 10:45 AM

the lottery is terrible, better of playing on the wheel of death

The point being that advertising firms use persuasive language to persuade people. It's hardly Watergate, is it?

Rob Instigator 04.26.2010 10:58 AM

it's worse than watergate

Glice 04.26.2010 11:12 AM

Incidentally, who are Grizzly Bear and why should I care? Have they done anything actually good, or do they just exist?

Rob Instigator 04.26.2010 12:31 PM

they just exist. HA!

atsonicpark 04.26.2010 02:34 PM

Well, this sounds about right. Shitty music to sell shit.

SYRFox 04.26.2010 02:43 PM

Grizzly bear have done two okay songs in my opinion. But they're really, really overrated. By far Warp's worst signing imo

Glice 04.26.2010 03:04 PM

When was the last time Warp signed anyone passable? I'm going to go with Gravenhurst, which is a few years ago now.

SYRFox 04.26.2010 03:25 PM

Hmm I have to disagree, as I find most of their new signings excellent. Probably half of my 2009 top 10 was released on Warp, actually. Flying Lotus, Hudson Mohawke, Rustie, Bibio, Harmonic 313, Babe Rainbow, and so on and so on... I think they've been on a roll for two years now. I like the fact that they got out of that "IDM" thing and were able to get more diversity, yet keep quality.
Rustie's Warp forthcoming LP is probably one of my most expected albums right now. If it's as good as I expect it to be and as Rustie's past tracks suggest it might be, it might be fucking mindblowing.

Once the jackpot exceeds the odds of winning, wouldn't the lottery then be in your favor? I mean here, it's like $190 million right now (unless someone won recently). That's a good $50 million more than the odds, which I think are something like 1 in 140 million.

Though it's never quite worth the shame of buying the ticket.

Rob Instigator 04.26.2010 04:00 PM

the jackpots keep growing because NO ONE hit the previous 1 in 17 million to win, so the winner of the next drawing actually had to beat a 1 in 34 million odds.

You make a fair point; and also illustrate how little dance music I actually buy (if I do, it's mixes). I just can't rid my mind of that terrible Grime comp they put out a few years ago.

Which comp are you talking about? I've never heard about it, aren't you talking about the Grime compilation that was released on Rephlex (this one: http://www.discogs.com/Various-Grime/release/264005) I've never heard it either though, so I don't know.
