To date, artists have made $18,107,461 using Bandcamp, and $1,167,038 in the past 30 days alone.

Legit or bullshit?

Art In Releases, a branch of Audition Records, curated by Julian Bonequi. As opposed to the extensive archive of Audition Records (which you can check out and download for free here), Art In Releases offers audio of sessions recorded at Transfertlab Studios in Berlin, in any digital format you might prefer, including lossless.

It's not free, but you could be happy to know you'll be supporting the funding of more awesome releases in the future if you decide to buy. Three installments to date: "Shishupala Vadha", by Yvan Volochine; "Qualcosa di Simile al Nero", by Andrea Belfi; and "Timelessness Fakes", by Ansgar Wilken. The latter, released just today. Next month, I think it's highly possible they'll release a new installment, by Okkyung Lee.

Skeletons, from New York City, have their new record, "The Bus", available for pre-ordering on Bandcamp and would grant digital copies of the record as well as an EP called "Chicago To Elyria" (containing early versions of the songs from the album) right away with every purchase. Notable collaborators: Mike Pride, John Fell Ryan, Sam Hillmer, Okkyung Lee, among others:

Planet Claire Sessions, by Aligre FM 93.1 from Paris, France, has a Bandcamp page now, which I hope will expand really soon. At the moment there are recordings of live sessions by Cat Power, Marissa Nadler, Yo La Tengo, St. Vincent, and others as well as very tiny fragments from soundboard origins of legendary performances by Nirvana, and The Pixies:

_tunic_ 10.08.2012 02:04 AM

Oh wow! that Cat Power session from 1998 is one of my all time favourites. Even bought it on a bootleg CD
Thanks!

my nose is itching.....

edit: pity that not all the banter is included though... perhaps not even all songs are there not sure from the top of my head.

Yeah, I don't think the entire sessions are there.

Still, I just made one fucking great mix for free.

Very cool.

You must be talking about the "Aligre" bootleg CD. I obtained mine through snail-mail trade, but didn't receive a truly lossless copy. If yours is actually lossless, would you mind to hook me up at some point (Wetransfer or a dime re-seed would work for me, and I could reciprocate the favor)? The bootleg also included the sessions she performed in 1996, and 2000; maybe that's why you have the impression some songs are missing? Also, I think Aligre still has stored all of these radio sessions and some others (at least one by Low, for instance) for lossy streaming at their official website. Perhaps those will include any banter these Bandcamp uploads might be lacking? At times I have suspected those lossy files were the actual source for the CD-R I got. Here's the 1998 session:
