Dinosaur Jr. & Skullcandy Announce custom Headphones & 7″

Dinosaur Jr. and Skullcandy have teamed up to release a limited edition collector’s package. The bundle includes Dinosaur Jr. customized Aviator headphones, along with unreleased music on color vinyl. The packages are limited to 500 production units, with the 2-song 7” records, released with 100 packages containing green-splatter, and 400 with purple records. Beginning Wednesday July 10th, the tracks “The Only Other Way” and “The Lung (Live)” will be streaming at Skullcandy.com.
The Aviator headphones are mixed to provide attacking bass, natural vocals, and precision highs that will deliver the purest experience in audio, no matter the genre. They feature soft leather touch memory foam ear pillows for maximum comfort and a detachable cable for ultimate mobility. They are built with the highest-grade materials to ensure unmatched durability and style. The Keep + Dinosaur Jr. collaboration is now available at www.keepcompany.com! This extremely limited project was produced in an edition of 360. Designed by J Mascis and using Keep’s desert boot Shaheen silhouette, the Keep + Dinosaur Jr. shoe features a deep violet, vegan microsuede body and an embroidered guitar strap accent patterned after one of J’s own straps. Each pair will come with a 7″ picture disc, featuring J Mascis’ warm and ethereal cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You”. This track has never been released to the public until now.

Who the fuck does Dinosaur think they are with all this crassly commercial and obscenely expensive merchandising? When I first saw this thread, i thought they were talking about the $20 Section-8 "band" headphones and I actually thought that'd be kind of cool. But $300 like bitch ass Dr. Dre??

Dino have been tied into the skate scene forever, and had several items of merch put out by various companies, so this is not totally unprecedented. Frustrating for vinyl collectors who don't want expensive clothes/shoes/headphones though.

I just was a bunch of Skull Candy "INK" designs headphones at target, $20. If they were Dinosaur? I'd probably buy them. I don't even think those Section-8 headphones have good sound, but if I saw a band I wanted to rep I'd get those too.. $300? You can go on vacation for $300 ;)
