what turntable is best suited to alternative etc etc music

people always mention technics turntables and dance music in the same breath.

so, is there a particular brand or model that is seen as best for alternative music?

or is it all just a bunch or horsecock?

looking to replace my shit ol' turntable.

Horse Cock Phepner is an awesome album.

atsonicpark 09.24.2009 12:13 PM

Well yeah.

Rob Instigator 09.24.2009 12:18 PM

it is all horsecock, or unicorn cock.

just get big speakers, a turntable with an amp, or a pre-amp, and turn that shit to 11.

technics are great, worth the money. At the very least, go direct drive. Belts always fail. I'd still be using my Technics SLD3 from 1980 if I hadn't dropped a box of Lee Cd's on the tone arm. top 10 fuckup.

Satan 09.24.2009 12:56 PM

bunch of horseshit. buy whatever you want. technics are good turntables though.

belts do suck though, every once in awhile my sony plays a little too fast so the music will be half-step up from what it's supposed to be and i have to take the belt off and put it back on to fix it

musefreek 09.24.2009 01:34 PM

thanks.

by the way, how do you know when a record is worn out? how does it affect the sound?

Satan 09.24.2009 01:41 PM

hiss + pop

chicka 09.24.2009 03:46 PM

people mention techincs alot because the sl1200 is what the dj culture took up, these are however very good turntables, they are only mentioned in association with dance music because of the take up of that particular turntable. the sound reproduction is all about the mechanics and the quality of system you are playing youre music through, there is no turntable more suited to one kind of music to another.

The first record I bought was Sgt Peppers blah blah Band. I still play it.

i like regular hipsters more than natural hipsters. in yoga class i had a mat next to the uptown queen. she was progressing from a hipster-with-attitude to straight-hipster-that-looks-like-a-dyke.

it would've been ok, but she stopped wearing deoderant and shaving her armpits.

and i also know this other natural hipster that fucked a homeless guy under a bridge. because she's just that fucking hip.

that's not hip....that's....weird.

musefreek 09.25.2009 04:06 AM

i don't understand all this hipster referencing. why refer to it?

my original post was genuine... i don't give a shit about trends...
