Milwaukee Show

IT WAS SO GOOD.
I was right in the front and Kim touched my hand so I'm going to chop it off and put it in a clear box forever.

shitty cell phone pictures: (I took more on my Holga so I'll post those once I get them developed)

These are the songs I remember them playing - in definitely not the order they played them except the first and last songs:

Sacred Trickster
Anti-Orgasm
Stereo Sanctity
Massage The History
Hey Joni
Tom Violence
Antenna

Shadow of a Doubt
What We Know

????
Death Valley '69

Hopefully someone has a better memory or one of the guys who got the setlist posts on here.

Sacred Trickster
No Way
Calming the Snake
Stereo Sanctity
Walkin Blue
Poison Arrow
Anti-Orgasm
(Here "Leaky Lifeboat," "Hey Joni," "Antenna," and "Malibu Gas Station" were played, possibly in that order or something close.)
Massage the History
Pacific Coast Highway
(encore break)
What We Know
Tom Violence
(encore break)
Shadow of a Doubt
Death Valley '69

I'm pretty sure I didn't leave anything out, but I'd appreciate it if anyone could give the order of the four songs I have jumbled together.

Other notes about the show: before, Kim and Lee talked for a while about how Thurston had drunk a malt (?) and was going to throw up. Thurston looked sick and sat facing away from the audience for a while, but seemed to be fine once they started playing. The mosh pit started up around Poison Arrow, I think. Kim shook hands with the audience during PCH. Lots of noise teases and interludes.

nailed it , along w/ the order.

was on lee/mark's side of the stage

ibold ate 4 butter burgers before the show, apparently.

amazing energy, I will always be floored by how they capture and highlight elements of their material live, this was the most kick-ass Sonic Youth show I've ever been to, my third.

Me, Emily, Justin, & Joey were very preoccupied in our own little universe.

We stayed in the venue for about 20 minutes afterword... so it is sort of strange. I didn't see you at all, otherwise I'd of said something. It was an amazing night, no doubt. Another time, you'll have to come to one of the Hales Corners shows that my friends stage, if they ever hold one again- should happen.

Awesome Color aside from being passionate dudes, very energetic put myself, Emily & Justin into a lull of sorts.

Our friend Joey just rocked out, haha.

WHOREOHSCOPE 07.21.2009 02:12 AM

in fact during Awesome Color Justin sat on the floor and covered his ears

which I didn't expect but wasn't surprised by

haha

I bought a shirt and went outside right away and ran into my friend Dylan. Apparently I should've stayed inside :P

Let me know when it is via Myspace or whatever.

And yes, Awesome Color rocked.
EDIT: and yes, I don't know what Lull means.

rather, we felt lulled into a deathlike paralysis by their overall sound, Emmy and I already felt surreal being there, in an awkward sense, they only added to it for us at that point in time.

I was more so entertained by them than anything, such as one of their songs sounding like garage rock with Steve Perry vocals applied to it...

Anngella 07.21.2009 02:38 AM

I enjoyed them. They were eons better than The Go! Team, at least.

I just wasn't in the mood for it tonight.

I'll listen to & give anything a chance, though I probably agree as far as each experience is concerned when comparing each of those opening acts.

Cool pics, awesome setlist! I'm jealous.

Pax Americana 07.21.2009 08:29 PM

They're playing Stereo Sanctity? Awesome.

tbannach 07.22.2009 04:10 PM

ooooooooooh please put those pictures on when you get them! I was in the front row too and all mine got erased!!!! still even with that unfortunate event, the show was unforgettable.

Anngella 07.22.2009 05:01 PM

I hate when that happens - one of the first times (THE first time, actually) I was shooting a model I turned the camera off/on too fast and everything got fucked up and I had to reformat (resulting in all the pictures of the beautiful model being erased).

I'll definitely put them up, though. Where in the front were you?

tbannach 07.22.2009 09:14 PM

Ya! Lee was literally right in front of me! Then I also got touched by Kim! and during an encore thurston waved while looking at me (I least I hope so) lol...but ya it was definitely a bummer when those pictures vanished.
