COLOR OF THE POMEGRANATES [rewatch] - 10/10

Toilet & Bowels 03.17.2010 07:12 PM

good, although it looked like it had been cut

The Hurt Locker. Definitely not movie of the year. Not terribly bad but that was a stretch.

That film is just on another level. Genuinely mindblowing. Have you seen 'Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors'? It's a bit more conventional than CoP but no less brilliant. Paradjanov was a truly amazing filmmaker.

Yeah, most uk versions available now still use the old cut print. Although I believe it's only the gory close up of the dead dog and a bit where one of the women has a gun put in her mouth that are actually missing. Great film either way.

Yeah, I loved it too. Watched it the same night as Antonioni's "Red Desert"... two mindblowing flicks. Brilliant filmmaker.

What a great film. Haven't watched that for quite some years.

I mentioned Love Exposure a few pages back.. do whatever you can to track down this movie! It's on asiatorrents which requires a membership but its open to everybody...

It's a 4 hour long movie about religion and a guy who does ninja moves to get upskirt panty shots of girls. He also dresses like a woman and falls in love with a girl who is like the Virgin Mary. THere is a big bloodbath and some fight scenes. It's one of the most, if not the most, complex movies ever, but it's always involving. MASTERPIECE. Mark my words, you've read here on SY Gossip first, in a few years this will be a huge cult film. So, check it out now.

I've been tempted to watch this one many times along with his older film Utsushimi and an earlier one 0cm4, 4 hours..maybe soon.

Last film watched - Branded to Kill

atsonicpark 03.18.2010 06:14 AM

Branded to Kill is in my top 20 fav. movies of all time!

I just watched SALT, SALIVA, SPERM, AND SWEAT (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0271157/), from the director of Body Melt. Great little oddity, probably a 7/10.

I'm Not Scared (2003). Loved it!

(2008) What a downer! Horrible acting. Almost switched it off half way through. Wish I had.

Something like 4/10
The one scene with Banderas staring his drink while some old tango record was playing on background somehow reminded me of Aki Kaurismäki.

atsonicpark 03.19.2010 04:00 AM

Haha. Maybe because every Aki film has scenes in a bar, people drinking and smoking?

parable - 8/10

Of the 14 films I've seen by Jost, I wouldn't give any lower than an 8...

atsonicpark 03.19.2010 06:52 AM

Haha, yeah, it's kinda like his trademark.
Actually brothers Kaurismäki own a bar (or a few bars, can't remember) in Helsinki, their slogan being 'Cold beer and freezing service'.

Last movie I watched:

Maybe a bit too long, but otherwise great.
