First thing I thought was, "Oh shit, I hope Depeche Mode isn't there" — and it's one of the FIRST acts they mention. Otherwise it looks kinda cool. :)

I don't suppose there's any news regarding the Screaming Fields DVD? Can't wait for that one!

I spoke to Aaron Mullan at DDN screening recently and it was ready to go but got pulled as everyone thinks that DVD’s are not selling that well anymore so it’s probably not viable to release it as it’s won’t sell enough copies to cover costs !!
It’s a real shame because I want to buy it !!!

Oh that's a shame. Surely they could manufacture a limited amount through Goofin! I can understand people not buying DVDs for films so much anymore because of Netflix, etc... I thought music DVDs would always sell as collectors kinda thing though. Oh well, hopefully someone uploads it to youtube sometime.

While I'll always, always prefer a physical release (DVD or Blu-Ray), if that's just not viable the next best thing is a high-quality download like Lee's In Doubt, Shadow Him! film. What I do NOT care for is streaming-only shit that you can't "own"... That's just perverse!

greenlight 03.23.2019 05:44 AM

so that means they will released as a digital download online in the future. not to worry...

Oh MAN! You're killing me with so much cooliosity! :) I hope the music gets some kind of release of its own, and soon.

Following the pre-order link from the Matador e-mail I received, the first thing I noticed was that the tracklist for the "virtual" version is exactly the same as the LP's: ten songs, no "Silver Rocket", which was made available as a FLAC to those who pre-ordered The Eternal via Matador's Buy Early Get Now shenanigans in 2009, and also appears on the CD version of Battery Park included in the same year's Japanese Sonik Tooth Box. I already have it, but why leave it out now?

Wait, there are no bonuses for preordering? What's the point then?

Sonic Youth are mentioned briefly in this article as one of the bands whose masters were destroyed.

Live At Battery Park? Didn't you hear it in 2009? :)

Sonic Youth aren't on Bandcamp, by the way. And only nine Matador acts are there (under the label's Bandcamp page, anyway):

Marshmallow Moon Decorum by Thurston Moore/ Frank Rosaly

Marshmallow Moon Decorum 31:36

Guitar hero Thurston Moore and improvising drummer Frank Rosaly met for a first encounter in 2012 at the Neon Marshmallow Festival, at the Burlington in Rosaly's hometown, Chicago. The results were monumental. The slow build of Moore's gigantosaur sound and Rosaly's clamorousness and gradually escalating propulsion made for an idea match over the course of an electrifying 35-minute piece, the thunderous conclusion of which left no ear unburned. Marshmallow Moon Decorum presents the full concert in all its glory, gorgeously rendered in a multi-track recording that captures both the grit and grace of their mutual ascent. The cover sports a painting by Amy Feldman, perfect visual foil for the boys and their noise.
