I know they'll play all the "Rather Ripped" stuff. But since it's CB's I hope to hear Brother James, Shaking Hell and Kill Yr. Idols.

why do people believe sy got their break on cbgbs? the fuckers banned sy from the start, then they reversed their policy.

They knew that SY was too good. You can't ban them from a club forever. SY will always find a way.

Thruston and Lee probably gang banged Hilly Crystal's daughter. And then he caught them and got jealous that he wasn't invited so he banned them.

A perfectly reasonable and plausible scenario.

cbgbs in the early 80's generally wouldn't let unfamous bands that weren't dead boys or ramones clone bands. and they didn't ban sy just because, it was mostly because no wave and no wave-related bands were especially banned from cbs.

there was also a weird uptown/downtown rivalry back then.

was cbgb's also dominated by New York hardcore bands like agnostic front, cro mags, etc?

Talking Heads and Blondie were playing CBGB in the late 70's, so I'm pretty sure they had moved well beyond CBGB before SY was even formed. If you look at the SY concert chronology, they played many shows at CBGB in their early years, but not so many that you could call it their "base." They also played in many other places around NYC.

What are you talkung about? They played CBGB's at least 4 times in 1981 (their first year).
