Some politician needs to start a "war on digital drugs"

I have friends that play WOW all night long then sleep at day. This shit is fucking ridiculous.

We should break into Blizzard's servers and bring super powerful magnets with us.

floatingslowly 04.19.2007 03:17 PM

I've played WoW for about two years. don't play so much lately because it's boring (I'd give anything for a new game that wasn't).

it's mostly a glorified chat engine. in fact, the only difference between that and message boards is that the graphics are better in WoW....

WoW is soul sucking though. it drains you of wit and personality.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 04.19.2007 03:18 PM

haha...

nerds.

SynthethicalY 04.19.2007 03:20 PM

What is WoW? Sorry for my ignorance.

cryptowonderdruginvogue 04.19.2007 03:21 PM

World of Warcraft

SynthethicalY 04.19.2007 03:23 PM

Oh I see.

both are equally nerdsy, but I'm well beyond pretending to be otherwise.

another difference: it's easier to make 12 year olds cry in WoW.

World of Warcraft. It is an online RPG with thousands of players on every server that cost 15 dollars a month to play. It is designed to be completely addictive. You can't really beat it. You "level up" to the top level, but then at the top level there are super hard dungeons with really good equipment that take about 8 hours to complete with 40 people, and you can also PVP or "player vs player." There is always a dungeon that nobody has figured out how to beat yet. Or they raise the maximum level.

SynthethicalY 04.19.2007 03:25 PM

I can't play games on computer. I get bored easily.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.19.2007 03:28 PM

The difference between WOW and message boards:

1. You don't forget to sleep because of message boards
2. You don't miss meals because you are on message boards

With WOW it is like "I'm fighting a dragon right now, I can't get up" with a message board it is like "ehhh, I'll lock my computer and do this later. . . "

There isn't a reason to be afraid not to post on a message board. Unless your a post count whore.

pantophobia 04.19.2007 03:28 PM

the south park episode about world of warcraft pretty much sums it up

I think the longest I spent in a 40 man raid was 3 hours....unless you keep dying over and over nothing ever takes that long. it's not easy getting 40 people to work together either. can you imagine getting everyone on this board (that's online at once) to agree on ANYTHING?? the level cap has only been raised once during the game's lifetime.

it IS addictive but that's because it's fun (or used to be for me). like ALL good things (not done in moderation), it can be a problem when overused.

WoW's pretty too. I miss my sexy blood elf Chicxulub. the character I'm playing right now isn't near as hawt. :(

your friend's an addict, or a stupid fuck, or both. what do politicians have to do with anything? haven't they fucked up enough with their stupid war on drugs, war on terror, war on... what else? games now?

yeah you're right, there is that aspect of it. that doesn't mean that EVERYONE who plays it overplays it though. seriously though, message boards can be just as addictive....but yeah you can get up and walk away at will (not so much if 39 other people need you there).

atari 2600 04.19.2007 03:39 PM

All I can see is Diesel and pantophobia. This rocks!

it was a joke. . . I'd rather have a digital Project Mayhem.

floatingslowly 04.19.2007 04:06 PM

I got that you were being facetious.

you are right though (not about the gov't but about the problem). there are way too many people that play that never seem to log off.

although I can see all this time spent as a problem and don't do it myself, I'm not ever going to tell someone else how to spend their free time!

you're in a position where you can apply peer pressure. make them feel like the uberdorks they are! I doubt they will stop playing, but maybe you can get your point across!

then again....maybe you should just join them. :p

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 04.19.2007 04:47 PM

It is tempting floating slowly. . . but I used to play and it was horrible for me. I sold my account and bought a drum machine and never looked back.

macrodollar 04.19.2007 07:40 PM

All my brother does is play these fucking MMORPGs, I do worry about him never having a life.

SynthethicalY 04.23.2007 12:36 AM

Did anyone see the simpson's today they made fun of this game?
