Thanks again! I've actually never heard The 1975 - what I've read about them has given me the impression they're another hollow band like Muse or some shit. But I sure gotta check out the previous interviews with Stevie Nicks, Brian Eno and Steve Reich... As for Bobby Gillespie, rock's chief librarian, why the fuck does he have to pop up everywhere?!

g. 05.05.2020 12:34 PM

Thank you, shall check this out.

I thought the same of The 1975, my eldest daughter is a massive fan and we trade musical recommendations, she hounded me to listen to them and I have to admit their last album 'A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships' is a very good album. Surprising layered.

Gotta love Bobby Gillespie :D

The 1975?! Who will Kim agree to interviewing her next? S club fucking 7? The fucking Spice Girls? Fucking 'ell.

Not reading another Kim interview until she speaks with either Morrissey or Ian Curtis. Reet, Internet! REET.

Yeah, between this and the "I find AOC inspiring" comment, Kim's judgement can certainly be called into question.

''Sonic Youth are kind of the ultimate, along with Black Flag, indie band in its truest sense. But what was it like signing to a major label in the late ’80s as Sonic Youth? How did that feel?''

What does that even fucking mean?

Fuck if I know. First of all, the Minutemen were arguably even more "indie in its truest sense" (they jammed econo, baby!), although they didn't control all the means of production; they still had to deal with label bullcrap, small as SST was. But we could be splitting hairs there... "Signing to a major label in the late '80s as Sonic Youth" - well, what were they gonna sign as, Milli Vanilli? All I can think of is they signed to a major after The Replacements, Hüsker Dü, and R.E.M. How did that feel? Like a complete unknown, with no direction home, like a rolling stone?

Diesel 05.10.2020 04:42 PM

Why even bother reading it?! Let the fanboys lap it up

greenlight 05.11.2020 03:59 PM

oh man, I clicked on that YT link. what the fuck was that??
