he's done more bad than good to the world.

Cantankerous 08.16.2007 12:00 AM

i have no reason to flirt with you.

total-trash 08.16.2007 12:00 AM

i was just thinking about how much i like david bowie today.

Everyneurotic 08.16.2007 12:04 AM

just to be clear i like some of his stuff, but he seriously has caused many bad things to happen.

pbradley 08.16.2007 12:05 AM

I'm rather on and off with David Bowie. He's in the same nebulous category as The Rolling Stones except I think I like Bowie more.

The Bowie songs I do like, though, I love.

The world would be a horrible place without his first 12 albums.

sonicl 08.16.2007 12:52 AM

I always want to love Bowie, really I do, but whenever I come back to him he disappoints me. I'm going to be totally unoriginal and say he should've retired after Scary Monsters.

There's a lot parallels between him and Madonna, in terms of having enough of a finger on the pulse of popular entertainment that they pick up on an emerging trend soon enough that when they co-opt it it doesn't look like bandwagon jumping.

Cantankerous 08.16.2007 12:52 AM

"heroes" is possibly my favorite song of all time.

certainly seems like one of those that fabricates things a bit. i guess alot of people are like that though.

i like bowie.

exactly. that's his genius is his changeability. no one would be talking about him if he had just kept on with his ziggy stardust thing forever. it's too novel to last forever.

sonicl 08.16.2007 12:56 AM

I want to be facetious and say that mine is The Laughing Gnome, but I'll resist. But I will say, without facetiousness, that the Ziggy Live album is one of my favourite live albums of all time.

Except he was awesome in the 70s. You don't have to like his new stuff to love him.

SpectralJulianIsNotDead 08.16.2007 01:05 AM

That is weird, I'm reading the bowie thread, and bowie randomly comes on on my itunes. Rebel, Rebel. Yeah!

Cantankerous 08.16.2007 01:11 AM

he didn't ruin the stooges. raw power wouldn't be what it is without him (granted that from a technical standpoint his mixes sucked but they made the album what it is, which is a brilliant piece of work.) the stooges were on their way out anyway, iggy was so debilitated from all the smack.
