Sonic Youth 4.20.06 Paris

04-20 Paris, France - Nouveau Casino

really.

Paris has a casino?

That sounds really provocative.

pokkeherrie 03.28.2006 05:48 AM

wow, they were also in paris only 6 months ago.

sonicl 03.28.2006 06:29 AM

I had a fantastic couple of days in Paris for the shows last autumn, but I don't know if I can justify the expense of going over to France again. If the Eurostar ran through the night it would be so much easier.

connie kreski 03.28.2006 06:37 AM

it's kind of expensive (35,20 €)... and i hate "the nouveau casino" but well, i'm gonna do some efforts this time i guess...

EvdWee 03.28.2006 06:54 AM

only 380 people...

i guess it is already sold out...

will they do any more dates in europe around the 20th?

marleypumpkin 03.28.2006 06:55 AM

Perfect day for a Sonic Youth show. 4 days before my birthday.

Kannibal 03.28.2006 06:57 AM

maybe Vienna next.

connie kreski 03.28.2006 07:13 AM

What do you hate about it Connie? I've never been ...

connie kreski 03.28.2006 08:04 AM

it's small, kind of industrial-EMO feeling in it, the scene is way too high, the
room is not wide enough and i've never seen a good gig there... it's kind of
"hype" too. don't trust this picture you post, it doesn't really look like this...

and the waitresses aren't as cute as they used to be :)

franck j. : i've just checked virgin and fnac because it's supposed to be the
official distributors and forgot about tickenet. silly me.

Flow my Tears 03.28.2006 09:06 AM

I just got my ticket, and I'm so excited... But I agree with you Connie, The Nouveau Casino is not my favorite place to see gigs in Paris, and it's not going to sound as good as the shows SY did at The Cité de la Musique in November. But SY in a so small place, I can't wait...

These comments make me feel a lot better about not going. I have a feeling they'd struggle to do a better gig than they did at Cité de la Musique anyway.

connie kreski 03.28.2006 09:21 AM

bah, at least, you can smoke and drink... just hope it won't
too messy because of alcohol "stupid" drinkers...

anyway, listen to new songs live before the album officially
comes out is still a very good deal.

jheii 03.28.2006 09:33 AM

If nobody records this show, I will issue a Jihad against all European board members... take heed... mwahahahaha

silverfreepress (sdasher) 03.28.2006 04:54 PM

If you have to depend on the venue to make the show for you then you my friend will always be out of luck.
SY played this mega small Mexican rock club in Queens last year. Plenty of flaws and issues with long lines and post (ponements) while everyone got in But the show was power force 12. Small and intimate is where its at. LA Forum or the Smell? Roseland Ballroom or the Cooler? I mean if your favorite band played a closet thats a much cooler story that playing the fairgorunds....right?

connie kreski 03.29.2006 02:28 AM

????

Bertrand 03.29.2006 06:53 AM

Don't know what the Nouveau Casino looks like but I'll be there; got my ticket yesterday. Sure a venue you don't appreciate can spoil your fun (le Zénith, Paris, is a place I didn't like when I saw SY there; same things for l'Arapaho - don't know if it still exists, with its pillar, and le Trabendo).
The finest place I saw a concert at was le Vauban, in Brest. A small place with a stage you could climb on effortlessly.
Well I hope the 380 won't feel toooooo proud to be there. SY should have stayed a couple of more nights to downsize the buzz.

Help me! Help me!

Hey friends and kindred spirits!

I really need your help, I found out about this Sonic show at Nouveau Casino just one day too late. I've tried everything, every Fnac, the Casino, the internet. I'm desperately in need for 2 tickets!!

Do you know somebody with a few extra tickets? Pleeeeease help me! Otherwise I'm gonna make a manif outside the Casino on the day...

Help!

"SY IN PARIS, WITH PEARL JAM, AND AT BONNAPALOOZA 2006
Sonic Youth will play with Pearl Jam July 9 at the Forum in LA. Tickets are onsale April 1. Sonic Youth will be playing one show in Paris April 20 to debut songs from their new album 'Rather Ripped'. The show is at the Nouveau Casino and tickets are on sale March 28 at FNAC and through ticketnet.fr. SY have also announced two US festival dates for this coming summer, which are at the Bonnaroo Festival on June 18 and the Lollapalooza Festival in Chicago on August 5. More summer dates to come."

Somebody said this earlier, but seriously, this really needs to be recorded somehow. It would be great to hear the debut of the Rather Ripped songs.

2 weeks away.
