Haven't listened to the rest of that album, it's probably not that good. The intro to track 22 cracked me up though.

And video's of Low's recent KEXP session were posted at
http://blog.kexp.org/2013/05/07/live-video-low-2/

Guess what I'll be seeing tonight, and tomorrow too :D

Thanks for the Bancamp link. I'll try to check it out soon.

I was about to post the link to the KEXP session. Great stuff. Still a bit disappointed there's no lossless audio floating around, though. By the way, it was kind of neat to hear Alan mentioning Sonic Youth as an influence on his guitar playing in the latter bit of the interview at the end of the session.

Please do not forget to tape. I hope one day they'll make it here.

I received my copy of the golden reissue of "In The Fishtank" this morning. About to crank it open...

Dime or LMA

a splendid night it was, definitely one of the better times that I've seen them. Support act will be shared on Dime some time soonish, as well as the previous day in Brussels

And they will be doing Pukkelpop which is an hour south from me (I used to work in that town, drove past the site every day) on the same day as Neil Young, and I won't be there... I bet they sold their kids just to be able to play on the same day as Neil

Bitchen! It would be extra cool if someone could make a Low-only DVD (or TS file), though...

Here's the full 6GB DVD:

ok, so I couldn't resist testing my new & improved upload speed. And it went quite fast indeed ;-)
This is uploaded in four parts:

1. http://we.tl/ei0fNyWCsB [1.98GB]
This is the live show broadcast, part 1 of 1.

2. http://we.tl/fheRvGmSDE [1.95GB] (part 1 of 3)
3. http://we.tl/HYUUbSb6ro [1.95GB] (part 2 of 3)
4. http://we.tl/s3NuTp2kM1 [181MB] (part 3 of 3)

This is the extended show. You'll need to download all three parts, then extract with your preferred archiver program, such as http://www.7-zip.org/

Info file and checksum are included in both packages. Apologies for the third small part, might have been able to fit it in 2 but I didn't feel like repackaging it all over again.
Links will be valid until 8 June 2013

Enjoy!

And I'm already going to Nick Cave on Nov 12 when Low hits Nijmegen. Might be able to make it to Leuven though

More info about the forthcoming Pitchfork thing:

Low taped a live performance in Noiseland's warehouse last week for Pitchfork. Low's latest release on Sub Pop Records, "The Invisible Way" was produced by Jeff Tweedy. Look for the video, directed by Dan Huiting, on Pitchfork.tv soon.

Well, I haven't been in here in a while.

I meant to stop in an share my experience of seeing both Retribution Gospel Choir and Low in the same few months, but I've been busy at work as HBJ has been talking about Low.

Cheers, man. How the hell you manage to ensure that Low is the second most talked about band on this board is beyond me.

Seems like many people were pissed, but I would have loved to see that.

Someone wrote a hate tweet and it was retweeted by Alan. That's kind of funny.

Same here. I was just reading similar reactions on facemook, and thought it was hilarious. Some posts do imply this was a magnificent set which many people did enjoy, though (or would have loved to hear). Hopefully a recording will turn up.

The "Drone, not Drones" remark at the end of the set, surely has to do with this campaign:

Anyway, here's another recent acoustic session by Low on Soundcloud, consisting of "Try to Sleep", "Holy Ghost", "Clarence White", "Venus", and "Walk Into The Sea" (June 13th):

Has she performed it live, yet? Haven't downloaded any torrents lately. Curious to hear it, of course. I bet it's gonna be powerful. I love Mavis, and I will be all over that album like a rash.

_tunic_ 06.17.2013 02:17 PM

The Mavis Staples album can be streamed on NPR

Low's Waltz can be streamed on the Current site, and here's a quick interview with Alan after the show.

Thanks for each of these!

I just love Alan comments in the article. Alan and Mimi looked disengaged......what a joke!

SO - are they touring with any sort of piano / keyboard when playing "normal" shows?

hipster_bebop_junkie 06.17.2013 06:10 PM

Drone, Not Drones also uploaded a recording of Low performing "Do You Know How To Waltz" at Rock The Garden, to Soundcloud (it might be the same as the one hosted at The Current, I'm just listening to the Soundcloud thing now so I haven't compared):

https://soundcloud.com/drone-not-drones

Drone, Not Drones' official website (currently a work in progress):

Low tweeted:
Thank you friends. Thank you @TheCurrent , for unfairly taking so much flack on our behalf and supporting local music.

yes they do, Steve the bass player actually plays keyboard (or piano on a keyboard to be exact) on a whole bunch of songs on this tour. And on the previous tour they were a foursome with Steve on bass aan Eric Pollard (drummer of RGC) on keys.
If there's any recording you need to hear, it's emmanuel's from Amsterdam. It hasn't made it to Archive.org yet though. It turned out so good. Mine is up there already of the same night, but it doesn't sound half as good.

Also, Low performed "Do You Know How to Waltz?" as an encore the night previous to Rock The Garden at a screening of "How To Quit Smoking" in Duluth. Strange how audience reactions differ so much from one show to the next. There's some footage of that encore at Cinema Purgatorio's facemook:

Big thanks Tunic!

I just realized something:

NPR - Mountain Radio Show performance has a length of 28:04......fourteen seconds shorter than the DRONE Not Drones - Do You Know How To Waltz? performance that stirred so much controversy.

_tunic_ 06.25.2013 01:22 PM

it was The Current not NPR, or is that the same thing?

I knew acidjack had taped the show in Williamsburg, but I wasn't sure the Solid Sound performance had been recorded as well. This is great.

By the way, it seems Alan Sparhawk joined Yo La Tengo on stage at Solid Sound Festival. Hopefully a recording of that set will surface soon, too.
