Received my copy of "The Invisible Way" plus "The Visible End" just a few minutes ago! :)

Speaking of tricky shit, I can't believe customs has charged me a bill for "importing" this record. Never happened to me before.

The A.V. Club has posted videos of Low performing "Plastic Cup" and "Waiting" live at Saki Records in Chicago:
http://www.avclub.com/articles/low-p...at-saki,93618/

It is mentioned in the article that they filmed the whole show (which consisted of five songs of the new record), and they'll be posting the rest of it in the coming days.

I used to live terrified of customs here. They got me twice, both times with SecondSpin packages, which of course ruined the whole point of buying used/cheaper CDs. Nowadays, my buddy in MN makes sure the packages I receive won't be messed with. Sneaky sneaky, sir.

Extremely cool. I must shamefully confess I did not know about that EP! I'll get the CD version next month.

_tunic_ 03.22.2013 12:39 PM

The Golden Fishtank EP will apparently only be avaialble in Europe (as was told on the maling list, I haven't checked myself). If you haven't got it, it's wonderful especially the cover of Down By The River.
[edit: but it's listed on the recordsmithpa link that you supplied, so it's probably not true then. Btw, don't think that's the official list, that's just the list for some store]

In other news,
There's another radio session from XFM streaming here: http://ukrp.musicradio.com/xfm/londo...isodeId=224836

_tunic_, you're right. I messed up. Record Store Day's official website doesn't have Low & Dirty Three's "In The Fishtank Volume 7" in the list. I hope I can manage to find a copy of it for a fair price even if it only makes it to European stores.

Soup Nazi, you are in for a really nice treat so don't miss out on buying that CD. I know there are mixed reviews about this record, but as _tunic_ mentioned there's a very beautiful cover of Neil Young's "Down By The River" on this, which is a true gem (If you enjoyed that Blogothèque performance, you now have an idea). "Lordy" and "When I Called Upon Your Seed" are noteworthy as well, in my opinion. You also might wanna check out the DVD included on "A Lifetime Of Temporary Relief" to know the humble origins of this EP: A documentary of the recording process is included on it, as well as some other awesomeness.

Anyhoo, I'm ripping that Low XFM session with Streamtransport now. It seems to be an .m4a file. I've had problems in the past to play audio files grabbed with this application, but I do hope this one will work fine. We'll see. I'm clueless regarding how to separate the Low session from the rest of the program and then split it into tracks. I've never done that on an .MP3, let alone an .M4A. I can only handle .WAV files with CD Wave Editor.

A tweet by acidjack implies he recorded Low's show at Society for Ethical Culture the other night, so I'm happy to have another Low recording to look forward to.

The golden Fishtank vinyl might be for sale at http://www.konkurrent.nl/winkel/prod..._718752038119/ as well
I've sent them a mail to confirm that, will let you know the answer.

I was hoping the NY show would be recorded, it had some special guests joining them (but I forgot which ones... either Trampled By Turtles or some string quartet)

_tunic_ 03.23.2013 11:38 AM

From the Low Mailing list:

I had some more luck with capturing the XFM session. Here's the audio stream (m4a, quite low bitrate). Interestingly, the last track in session isn't 'Words' by Low, but Low doing a cover of Neil Young's 'Words' from the Harvest album.

_tunic_, you beat me to it. I was planning to upload my rip of the XFM session. I've been quite busy so I'm glad and thankful you've posted this here, too.

By the way, it wasn't Tramped By Turtles joining Low at the New York show, this time it was ACME: American Contemporary Music Ensemble.

Also, Planet Claire uploaded Low's Planet Claire session from October 24th, 2004 to their bandcamp page yesterday. It's only available for streaming at the moment, but a link to download lossy files is located there, too (It's been active for years at their official website). I asked if they would please provide lossless audio, and they said they'll try to figure that out.

it was mentioned some time ago that there was a movie of which Low provided the soundtrack, but back then there was only a trailer. Full movie (10 minutes I guess) can now be seen at http://asongofpraise.nl
And you can also buy a limited edition DVD, but I find 15 Euro a bit expensive for such a short movie. There's also something else that can be bought for 5 Euro, I have no clue what it is though. Even for a Dutch speaker this site leaves me clueless. And I haven't found an option for English language.
You can see the movie at chapter 2.1 and order the DVD at chapter 2.2.II

happy hunting!

By the way, _tunic_, do you know someone who might be able to capture Low's KEXP session tomorrow in lossless format? O'B has told me he will try, but there are many chances he won't pull it off. I don't have the means to do it myself, or even the time. Gotta work tomorrow, so I will miss the broadcast. Would love a copy, though. Maybe someone from the Chairkickers list might be able to capture the lossless stream? Thanks so much if you can spread the word, and find a helpful hand.

Ah. Quite bummed there's no lossless capture. Low in .mp3 format only, is a lot better than many other things in this world, though. Maybe KEXP would upload a video of the whole performance to youtube at some point, too. Thanks so much for those links. I wonder if anyone from the Chairkickers list managed to rip those recordings hosted at the Current's website. I tried to, but neither Streamtransport nor Firefox's Downloadhelper could do it.
