When Did Kim Become So Fashionable?

for along time now she's dressed pretty stunningly. big name designers, heels on stage while she plays bass and dances that awesome little dance of hers. but i wanna know when this started. was it gradual? did she just wake up one day and say "i'm gonna start wearing good looking dresses & what not. dammit i'm gonna be hot!". because, c'mon, we've all seen the way she use to dress back in the day... that shit was hideous. ball caps!? flip up sunglasses?! that shit was never attractive, especially on a woman of kims stature. so when i ask you? WHEN!!!!!!!

Cantankerous 06.15.2008 06:29 PM

she's always dressed really really cool

like in the late 80s in that silver rocket video from night music. and in kool thing.

o'connor 06.15.2008 06:36 PM

see i think she looked a bit ratty and trashy back then.

Cantankerous 06.15.2008 06:37 PM

you have no concept of what fashion really is at the heart of it.

o'connor 06.15.2008 06:47 PM

maybe not... but i know what i think looks like shit and i know what i think looks good. :)

tasteinmen 06.15.2008 07:04 PM

it's hard to tell really, i reckon around goo.

demonrail666 06.15.2008 07:09 PM

Yeah, from the flip top glasses to now, Kim has always had a definite fashion sense. The glossy mags may have picked up on her later on but she has always had it going on. If anything, she's less 'fashionable' now than she was back in the 80s:

One of my fave shots of her

Everyneurotic 06.15.2008 07:11 PM

yeah, she really started dressing up around the evol era, though.

dionysusundone 06.15.2008 07:14 PM

Yeah, EVOL sounds about right. It was during the Madonna fascination, wasn't it?
Personally I thought she looked best around the time of BMR, like in the Death Valley 69 video, she looks hot with that shotgun.

tasteinmen 06.15.2008 07:15 PM

i thought (from what i could see of her) she looked pretty kewl in death valley 69 video, but I could only see 5 seconds of her.

neptuneg 06.15.2008 07:28 PM

The bass that she plays usually adds to whatever fashion era she went / is going through; like the Ovation in the mid-80s, the thunderbird and that white BC rich bass during the Goo era.

Cantankerous 06.15.2008 07:37 PM

kim looks brilliant in the death valley 69 video with the shotgun

those pants are the coolest ever!!

i have a necklace like she had with the little stars on it

I was looking for that picture of her when I posted the one above. That's definitely my favourite of shot of her. Sexy, cool and badass at the same time. Awesome!

Cantankerous 06.15.2008 07:43 PM

it's a rifle not a shotgun just for the record.

Cantankerous 06.15.2008 07:44 PM

demonrail666 06.15.2008 07:45 PM

This may be the moment where she became a more mainstream-friendly fashion 'icon'.

this was mentioned in the youth chapter of 'our band could be your life'. azzerad talks about how kim was at first very very shy, and it showed in her stage presentations. but as their career progressed, she became more assuming and more interested in sexuality. therefore, she started dressing a helluva lot sexier around 'evol', and then just kept getting sexier.
