I wonder why this thread has been so inactive for two years ....

So I was preparing myself for my first concert in possibly three years. The fabulous Joy Division Undercover band was supposed to play in my hometown tomorrow.
Guess what? I just read that the show is cancelled, the singer has the flu!! It's postponed to July now.

Anyway, I might go to these gigs in the coming weeks & months:
Helmet
Amenra
Yob

Don't have a car anymore, so my travel is as far as my bike can take me ;-)

I'm seeing Machine Girl in June, Gorillaz in July, and My Chemical Romance in March 2023 (the latter of which was originally scheduled for two weeks from now, which had originally been a festival in March 2020).

Should have gone to see the original lineup of the Wiggles yesterday.

Wanting/Planning to, but not sure cause Austria sucks at curtailing Covid:

Low (05/11/22)
Ritual Howls (Possibly, maybe - 05/30/2022)
The Magnetic Fields (06/09/22)
Crime & The City Solution (06/22/22)

I was going to go to Primavera in summer in Barcelona but fuck that shit.

Instead, I might end up going to Pohoda festival in Slovakia where some nice bands will play (Black midi, Squid, Shame, Nick Cave & Bad Seeds, Crack Cloud, Yves Tumor, Black Country new road, Molchat Doma, Slowthai, Snail Mail, etc.)

Damn, that lineup is amazing. Though it's hard to say what Black Country New Road is gonna be like without Isaac.

Indeed.

Btw, come join the festival! I don't have anyone to come with me.

If you'd be up for a trip, you could take a train to Bratislava (which is 40 minutes from Vienna), and I'd drive us in my car to Trencin which is 1 hour away from Bratislava.
I have a tent.
I'll ask greenlight if he'd be willing to go too.

My assumption was that they were going to move further into the post-rocky instrumental stuff they were doing on the last record, but apparently they were working on new material with the girl bassist singing even before Isaac announced leaving. They've also said that they won't want to perform 'his' songs while he's absent, so it'll be completely new material.

4/14/2022 - Loudon Wainwright III

Yeah, it's not guitar rock. But Wainwright is an absolute master at working a crowd. This will be my seventh time seeing him. I have yet to see him put on a bad show.

Boris have announced a show in Melbourne in June (playing Heavy Rocks (2002)), I can't convince myself to spend the money on it - either that or JPEGMAFIA.

Although I hope Isaac is ok (he seems to be struggling with mental health, as far as I heard), I'm kind of glad for this move from the vocals point of view. This might be a very unpopular opinion, but his crooning on the second record is quite unbearable to my ears. The declamation/spoken word type of vocals that he did on the debut were a lot more appealing.

Yes, from what I've heard he's not in a good way at all and I really hope that he's able to work through it with support (interesting that one of the guys on black midi's first record also left the band for similar reasons). But I'm agreeing with you on the vocal aspect; I'd be fine to see them go fully instrumental as they venture away from more linear and direct rock.

Bertrand 03.23.2022 02:19 PM

Hopefully I'll get to see Dry Cleaning (in Tourcoing, Lyon and perhaps Paris). The first opportunity was cancelled 2 years ago.

Then it'll be Los Bitchos in Rennes.
And I'll see Kikagaku Moyo for their last rour, in Paris.

Unfortunately there's a great festival in Angers (access from abroad might be a tad difficult) that takes place on dates that don't match my schedule.
Levitation-France : https://levitation-france.com/
You'll have Kim Gordon, bands mentioned above, Gilla Band, Black Country New Road...

If any of you are in the Chicago area, you can go see John Hinckley - yes, that one - perform live at the Logan Square Auditorium in a few months. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/john-hi...s-321574827967

Aw Dude....Ants From Up There is my AOTY. Crooning? Fuck no.

I agree that his vocals were more "direct" on the first album. I can't help but read too much into his singing/lyrics since The Announcement. Hopefully he can come back after a needed break.
