SENSATIONAL FIX CATALOG
A vastly illustrated, 720 page English publication will be released in November 2008 by LiFE and Museion, in collaboration with Verlag der Buchhandlung Walther Konig, Cologne. Next to a selection of writings by the band members and reprinted articles by other authors, it contains new contributions by among others John Miller, Jutta Koether & Alan Licht, Carlos van Hijfte, Mike Watt, and Roland Groenenboom. Extensive new interviews with each band member, conducted by Paul Sztulman & Christophe Wavelet, highlight the band's history in the context of the New York art and music scenes of the late 1970s and early 1980s and their many ties with visual artists, poets, musicians, filmmakers... over the last 27 years. The band's history is documented in images of album covers, band portraits and live photos, among which many are unpublished to date. The exhibition is documented through a selection of works and a listing of the full content of the exhibition. The book furthermore contains two 7" vinyl records with unpublished sound contributions by each member individually. The publication will soon also be available in French, German and Italian. More info.

Moshe, that sounds so amazing. I'm sure it's going to cost way more than I can afford. Damn.

Moshe 10.15.2008 01:37 PM

I was thinking to skip this one but now I'm tempted. No food for my kids this month :)

noisereductions 10.15.2008 01:48 PM

hahahaha. Any idea how much that catalog/7" will be??

noisereductions 10.15.2008 01:52 PM

What's 58 euros in $'s? Anyone know?

nicfit 10.15.2008 01:57 PM

today it's abot 79$

noisereductions 10.15.2008 02:22 PM

Yikes. So 80 bucks plus shipping from Europe, huh? Looks like I'm out of luck. How nice.

tesla69 10.15.2008 02:29 PM

I'm sure copies will arrive for sale in the States, but it'll probably be essential...

I'm not sure that it's actually available yet. But if anyone has evidence otherwise, please say, as the email that I received was in German and there were parts of the Google translation that didn't quite make sense.

I would love it if it turned out that the four sound contributions could be played together to make up one coherent piece, kind of like Flaming Lips' Zaireeka, but on vinyl.

Of course, it would have to be four one-sided singles for that to work, but nevertheless I think it would be a very cool concept.
