So, anyone seen one of these before?

Starpower 10" on translucent green vinyl. It was certainly a surprise to me when it landed on my doormat today, given that it had been listed for sale as a grey copy (w/no pic).
It does look a kinda muddy-dark grey when not in the light, but it's worlds apart from the "normal" solid grey verson.
That makes at least 4 different colours of the 10" now (violet, grey, brown, green). I coulda sworn I saw a yellow one once years ago too, but it's proving damn elusive.

edit: I see Chris already mentions the yellow one. No word on the translucent brown version though.

Also, all the 10"s (certanly the violet & green ones) date from 1991 rather than 1990, based on the Greg Lee Processing matrix number (L-31312).

(another also - based on that release date, I'd speculate that these Starpower reissues, possibly along with the pink Sister & purple Evol, were what prompted the SST legal action letter reprinted in one of the early Sonic Life's).

The Ciccone Youth 7" must have been repressed at some point, becuase later copies have a barcode:

It indeed was repressed. I have two different copies. One with a glossy paper sleeve with cyan colored ink and cyan record label. Another with a matte (uncoated) paper sleeve with a darker, blue ink.

The original I think may be the glossy paper sleeved one. I bought that one years ago. Bought another recently-ish, as I beat up the other one.

There's two different clear vinyl pressings of SYR3. Original 1998 copies have a Europadisk credit in the runout, while a later pressing (circa 2004, from the runout mastering date) is made by RTI.

The recording of Catholic Block at Submerge is clearly not the 6/4/87 version, but the same as the one at Mixtape #3: live version from 11/03/90 irvine ('dirty boots' EP show). So the »Unreleased« is possibly right for the Submerge, but false for the Mixtape.

Chris Lawrence 02.12.2016 05:24 PM

Thank you for the confirmation!

krischanski 02.14.2016 01:49 PM

Btw, the track on Trans Musicales is not a live version, there are for any reason only studio tracks on it.

krischanski 02.19.2016 03:05 AM

I got a copy of the Sonic Youth Compile, and the Sugar Kane video is the regular one, as far as I can see. The label says nothing else, and the video does not show any credits.

One of those "fully hand-coloured" copies of (Over)Kill Yr Idols has surfaced: https://www.discogs.com/Sonic-Youth-...elease/8145043

Chris cleaned up the discography and it looks awesome. Spinhead Sessions added; a new section of "self released" which I love because I never liked a lot of those things listed as bootlegs.

never seen this bootleg but there's a couple on ebay right now

skinnypaul 11.15.2017 07:48 PM

It's also on Amazon for £7.99.

According to the Discogs entry it's actually a clone of Live In Heaven/Live in Vienna - U4, Vienna, Austria, 29th March 1989.

noisereductions 11.15.2017 09:36 PM

I figured it must be a clone of something but wasn't sure what. Good to know. Thanks
