'Cosmic Debris' Vol.I - split ART-LP (ltd. ed. of 100).
Each record comes alongside an original acrylic painting by Roberto Opalio (one half of My Cat Is An Alien) on 30x30cm proper canvas, with a unique Polaroid installed on each piece, representing 100 different perspectives of a same subject.
Vol.I features a special Text Of Light's track entitled "033103 Paris", recorded live at Centre Georges Pompidou in DUAL MONO; the LP will be out in early October 2006, while a regular CD re-issue will follow some months later -- contacts & pre-orders here: spaceis@mycatisanalien.com

"The Italian space brothers Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, aka My Cat Is An Alien, have set up a new series of split art-LPs on their own Opax Records. The series of collaborations, entitled "Cosmic Debris", will see the space duo alongside artists such as Lee Ranaldo's Text Of Light, Steve Roden, Keiji Haino, Mats Gustafsson, Loren Connors & his Haunted House band. Each volume will be released in a numbered and signed edition of only 100 copies, and will come out with a proper painting on 12"x12" canvas by Roberto Opalio as sleeves, with the addition of an original Polaroid installed on each piece of art, representing 100 different perspectives of a same subject; each volume's photographic subject will be strictly related to the cosmic imaginary of My Cat Is An Alien."

bah,i saw them live a couple times and they bored me,records have the same effect,guess it's all a matter of persona tastes....by the way,"hate" is an exxxxxaggeration (i don't know how to spell),i just don't like them.

MCIAA LPs cost a fortune don't they? I think I'll wait for the Cd.

hm,i listen to loads of italian bands,i don't think i'm nore "strict" for that reason...i mean,i LOVE lee ranaldo,but his "from here to infinity" bores me a lot,even if you could say it's "interesting"...i appreciate the effort,but not the result,in a way.

i'd like to hear that.

I'm not sure the artwork will be the same as the LP. The Opalio brothers said they will send be a jpg file of the artwork as soon as the have it so I figured it is different.
Anyway, it is only March and there are 3 TOL releases out there. Lee is spoiling us this year.:)

will he put a chocolate in the cd as well. that really would be spoiling us.

Yes the LP version (that is sold out now) Opalio brothers attached the acrylic picture. I think the CD contains just that picture as a digital press for CD format. anyway I have not seen it yet.

CD re-issue of the first instalment in the new "Cosmic Debris" split ART-LP series set up by Maurizio and Roberto Opalio, aka MY CAT IS AN ALIEN. This Volume I sees the two space brothers from Torino, Italy, alongside Lee Ranaldo (Sonic Youth) and his all-star ensemble TEXT OF LIGHT* (here featuring Alan Licht, Dj Olive, Ulrich Krieger and Tim Barnes). Their track "033103 Paris" has been recorded live at Centre Georges Pompidou in 2003 and mixed in dual mono by Ranaldo & Licht at NYC Echo Canyon studio. MCIAA's piece entitled "Everything falls like cosmic debris" is a conceptual ouverture to the whole series, performed in April 2006 at their secret recording space called Alien Zone, located up the Italian Western Alps.
The five-volumes series "Cosmic Debris" features My Cat Is An Alien alongside Text Of Light, Steve Roden, Keiji Haino, Mats Gustafsson, Loren Connors & his Haunted House band.
Each CD cover artwork reproduces the full image and details of the acrylic paintings created by Roberto Opalio for each copy of the original vinyl edition on MCIAA's own Opax Records.

Does anyone know whether the Text of Light track from Paris 0333103 is the same as the one on that is on "Reel 1", the euro tour CDR from 2005?
I assume it's from the same recording (dual mono), but is it the same edit?

Hi Pokkeherrie, I haven't the split cd with MCIAA guys but I think it's the same recording/editing appeared on 'reel 1'
