Donald Trump is the President of the country.

I wouldn't be too amazed by anything in American politics

New day, new warnings...

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-47203344

"The IPPR warns that the window of opportunity to avoid catastrophic outcomes is rapidly closing."

The "Green New Deal" might be idealistic rubbish (I haven't read it), but at least Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is actually interested in addressing the biggest problem we face right now. Credit to her for that in a country that just shut down its government for over a month because of a wall.

Prince Leonard, the founder of the Principality of Hutt River, has died aged 93.

When I was younger I'd founded my own micronation, with him as some inspiration. RIP

Klobuchar has announced she's running. I don't see anyone from the Dems who I think would topple Trump but she definitely looks a better prospect than Warren.

Sony Launches Branded Premium Large-Format Theater System

https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/be...system-1186263

Quote:

Sony Electronics is launching a Sony-branded premium large format theatrical system, which will effectively compete with the likes of Imax, Dolby Cinema and theater-branded PLF auditoriums.
The Sony Digital Cinema offing includes Sony laser projection with support for 4K and high dynamic range images, Dolby Atmos sound and reclining seats. If purchased, the projection and sound systems represent an investment upward of $1 million, though Sony declined to comment on the business arrangement with the theaters.

Man. I wouldn’t be surprised if they sink this one. Hope they succeed...I really like the PlayStation. This sounds pretty expensive.

Samsung will stop releasing new Blu-ray players in the U.S.

https://www.digitaltrends.com/home-t...u-ray-players/

Quote:

Samsung will exit the U.S. Blu-ray player market — and has abandoned plans to introduce a new high-end 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray model that was originally meant for release later this year.

“Samsung will no longer introduce new Blu-ray or 4K Blu-ray player models in the U.S. market,” a Samsung spokesperson confirmed to Digital Trends. The statement implies that the company might continue to offer the devices in overseas markets like Europe, or even in neighboring markets like Canada and Mexico.

The move to stop making 4K Blu-ray players was originally reported by Forbes, with Samsung later confirming it will stop releasing all new Blu-ray players stateside. This comes shortly after Chinese maker Oppo Digital decided to do the same thing last year. The news is a little worrying for what it might say about the state of the still-young 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray disc market.

Normally, seeing a major brand like Samsung abandon an entire market would be a sure sign that the category was in trouble. After all, if Samsung can’t make money in a consumer tech area like home theater — which it has been dominating along with LG for years — how healthy could that market be? Yet, while regular Blu-ray may be growing stale, stats for 4K Blu-ray tell the opposite story: Sales of Ultra HD Blu-ray discs are on the rise, and support for the format from major Hollywood studios hasn’t ebbed at all, even though not every new movie is released as an Ultra HD Blu-ray.

it's just youtubes from now on like you said!

my current BR player is a refurbished i paid $30 for at amazon some years ago.

there were no new ones or new ones worth the price as i recall...

now i have it stashed in a storage box in case of emergencies. most things i watch on a roku... even sports.

samsung knows where the market is going. they put the playback software right inside their teevees after all.

It wasn't so much the words as whether certain ones rhymed with other ones or not.
