The Ex Festival featuring Thurston Moore

Below is a Dutch to English Google translation (with my corrections) from kickingthehabit:

The Ex Festival with ao. Thurston Moore, Space Siren, Han Bennink and Peter Brotzmann past five halls

Those are the nicer birthday: the Dutch The Ex celebrates its 34th anniversary with The Ex Festival, an evening organized by the band itself. On the line-up we find friends and like-minded acts from the experimental / improvised (jazz) angle. At the party to see yourself next to The Ex: Sonic Youth's Thurston Moore, Fendika, drummer Han Bennink & free jazz saxophonist Peter Brotzmann, Space Siren, Chocolat Billy and Trash Kit.
Multiple names are on the move. As Paradiso puts it: "With exciting new bands, improvisation legends, Ethiopian dancers and much more." Where's place? According Sleeping Beauty programmer Robert Meijerink in five halls throughout the country, namely Doornroosje in Nijmegen (27 February), Paard van Trojo in The Hague ( February 28 ), Paradiso Amsterdam (on Saturday, March 1st ), Tivoli Oudegracht in Utrecht ( March 2 ) and Vera Groningen (26 February).
Not yet included in the online program, all rooms but tickets for the evening between 17.50 and still costs 20 euros. A recording of the 33 1/3-yearly existence of The Ex - let no opportunity go for a party, that band - in Bimhuis earlier this year:

The Ex Festival

The adventurous, innovative Dutch band The Ex celebrates a five day festival in five main venues all over The Netherlands, simply called The Ex Festival. Not retrospective, but primarily forward-looking and adventurous. Among the many, very different guests invited, are young new bands, improvising legends, musicians and dancers from Ethiopia and a lot more!

The Ex have defied categorization ever since they started playing in 1979. Born out of the punk explosion, when anything and everything was possible, the band have still managed to retain both curiosity and passion for their music. Using guitars, bass, drums and voice as ther starting point The Ex have continued to musically explore undiscovered areas right up to the present day: the early 1980s saw collaborations with jazz musicians and an Iraqi-Kurdish band. In the 90s the group found a myriad of partners from varied musical and non-musical backgrounds including Kamagurka, Tom Cora, Sonic Youth, Han Bennink, Jan Mulder, Ab Baars and Wolter Wierbos. In 2002 The Ex set up a lively musical exchange with Ethiopia, which eventually led to two CD recordings and hundreds of concerts with the legendary saxophonist Getatchew Mekuria.
After 34 years, more than 25 albums and around 1800 performances the band continues to work as they did in when they began, completely independent of record companies, managers or roadies. Because of this 'do it yourself’ work ethic The Ex is still a great example for other forward-thinking bands and musicians.
“Staying a bird, staying independent, free if you will, for three decades, that takes skill and something else, something more like heart”
Music journalist John Corbett on The Ex.
