Neil Young new record streaming.......

I like that word. Streaming.

if you go to http://www.neilyoung.com

the new record starts playing. the ny times says its a raw version and a better release will be available in a day or two and a physical version will hit stores in a week or so.

I know the sentiment of the record has be discussed on here. But listen for urself. The first 2 songs are really electric and beautiful.

I think Neil Young has much better records than Harvest (After the goldrush, On the beach, Tonight's the night, Rust never sleeps...).

is also up for stream

it's a really good, if not great, album

After the Goldrush, Zuma, Tonight's the Night & Live Rust are the ones that I play the most. I'm still finding lots of life in Prairie Wind also. Sonic Youth fans especially might appreciate the Dead Man soundtrack (Savage Clone's mention) or Sleeps with Angels. I played Harvest a lot in the '90s though. It was a big after-the-bars selection & the case was used for illicit activites quite regularly.

the picture on the cover was taken while Neil was being arrested for thinking about releasing this as an album.
I love Neil but I already have Metal Machine Music. And I haven't listened to that more than once.

The new album sounds pretty decent and highly relevent.

Is Neil releasing another album that we don't know about?? because you certainly can't be talking about the latest anti-war effort. Can you???

stan_sitwell 05.02.2006 11:25 AM

I gave Living with War a quick listen...seems ok, but I haven't like most of his recent output.

Also, apologies if this has already been posted, but you can find "Time Fades Away", his out of print 1973 album, online. Fans of Tonight's the Night, On the Beach should enjoy.

Here's the linkage:

Reading between the lines of the Washington Post article, I gather that the album is a hurried, irrelevent mess. Too bad.
