RanaldoNecro 12.09.2009 11:09 PM

lets hope they work with Michael Gondry

SuperCreep 12.09.2009 11:24 PM

so i'm guessing mark will be too busy for these sessions and they will be getting a new bassist?

dionysusundone 12.09.2009 11:49 PM

Seems more likely it'll come out in 2011, but I'm hoping for 2010!

a new DVD will include performances from their recent Daydream Nation tour that took place in 2007 and 2008.
They should put a DDN performance in full and in correct order in it, not disturbed by comments & interviews in between.

jerf 12.10.2009 01:08 AM

awesome news! i wonder how theyre gonna release it, if they will go with matador again or try to self-release it.

Moshe 12.10.2009 01:19 AM

Thanks Jane! I heard rumors about the DVD but anew album is a surprise.

i wonder if they ever sleep ?...anyway a new album is always good news.

frades 12.10.2009 04:14 AM

I was more eager for a 'nurse tour DVD' than a 'DDN tour DVD' for two reasons:

'dripping dream' and 'peace attack' are seldom in live recordings (if someone has them, please let me know).

Such 'nurse tour DVD' appeared as pictures on here but I never saw one to sell...

2010 is going to be a very productive time for Sonic Youth, according to Ranaldo.

He added: "We’re doing a big archival house clean right now. We’ve got a massive archive of audio and video that’s sitting in our studio in Hoboken. We’ve got somebody in there who’s noting every single thing down and making a massive database, and then we’re going to start digitising it because some of the tapes are 30 years old now."

30 years? Holy ****. I sent a massive amount of stuff to the band (and I assume they monitor/pilfer Utkonos as well), but the earliest I know off is 1981. I hope there are earlier tapes as well (as opposed to Lee just rounding off 28 to 30).

Tokolosh 12.10.2009 05:42 AM

Cool news! Can't wait to see the DDN material.

Will it ever see the light of day? So much work put into it and with such endearing result. Set free this dvd! :)

Tokolosh 12.10.2009 06:10 AM

Who knows. Maybe someday they'll come to their senses. :-)

Starting µTorrent now....:D

By the way: I have a fourth(!) source for that show which sounds better than my recording and almost as good as Tristan's. How many camera's were there? Three? Four? Best-documented SY show ever.

Tokolosh 12.10.2009 06:24 AM

Four.

greenlight 12.10.2009 06:45 AM

what? I like such a news. last night nothing you wake up and there's already 2 pages concerning new album, live dvd and new soundtrack (?). cool! not mentioning countless solo stuff, which is coming out all the time. i like the idea of that live dvd, DN era performances mixed with performances of DN songs from present. I wonder how the soundtrack is going to be like....i'd prefer it to be something instrumental. anyway thanks very much Jen! also Moshe and Stu for the other links.

Rob Instigator 12.10.2009 09:59 AM

fucking excitem, ent builds and builds! SONIC LIFE!

mil_pl 12.10.2009 10:00 AM

Moshe is always excited whenever there are female SY fans around, even if it's just electronically.

jennthebenn 12.10.2009 03:24 PM

Bwaha!

Moshe 12.10.2009 03:51 PM

I only said "נרגש", not "גירוי מיני"!

(I'm sure there's a hideous error in there somewhere.)

I'll say you are!

But there's an uncirculated SY show coming up on Dime, to ease your pain.

reginald 12.10.2009 04:32 PM

As if that weren't enough, the band will also take on a new DVD. The disc will include performances from their recent Daydream Nation tour that took place in 2007 and 2008. It will be interspersed with clips of the band performing the same songs in 1988.

When I saw the McCarren Park show in Brooklyn 2007 and saw the video gear filming a FANTASTIC performance I KNEW I would see at least some of this on a DVD. I still maintain the release will have at least some of the show !!

OH YES !!!

Moshe 12.10.2009 04:33 PM

as long as there are no sy female fans screaming on that recoding...
