I was way back sitting on the edge of the pool, so no screaming from me
on there at least.

There was quite the commotion where I was, about 30 feet from the stage ever so slightly left of center. I really thought they wailed !

If "Cross the Breeze" from that show isn't the best single performance of a
song I've seen at an SY show, it's close.

I'd love to see/hear an SYR of their performance with John Paul Jones.

fantastic news all round.

Nice to hear of the prospect of a live DVD. I brought a mate of mine to the show in Vicar Street and he was amazed by the live sound claiming he thought they were better live than on record. that could be debated all night but I would love a well put together live album. it's amazing they don't have one.

2010 is going to be a very productive time for Sonic Youth, according to Ranaldo.

He added: "We’re doing a big archival house clean right now. We’ve got a massive archive of audio and video that’s sitting in our studio in Hoboken. We’ve got somebody in there who’s noting every single thing down and making a massive database, and then we’re going to start digitising it because some of the tapes are 30 years old now."

wish i was offered that job!

Iwas thinkin' this. I want Jim to at least help out and tour for the album. If not....fuck it. lets just have Kim man it up or Thurston strap on a bass.

i don't thnk it's likely he'll return as a member, but it would be really cool if he at least produced the album or helped out on tour.

i'm really psyched for their plans. and this live dvd is going to be insane

viewtiful_alan 12.13.2009 09:29 PM

This is good news. I like listening to new music by Sonic Youth.

amerikangod 12.14.2009 12:26 AM

No more O'Rourke. The next album needs Dimebag Darrell's ghost (RIP) shredding and dive-bombing from beyond the grave.

Didnt Lee say in an interview that on the last tour with Jim, Jim crossed off every city they played in and said "I´m never going here again"?? So I guess touring is out of the question...

Of course I wish he would rejoin though!!!!

Also he said something along the lines of "japan is the only place Im happy"...

Skuj 12.14.2009 02:03 AM

Hmmmmm....Jimmy O, god bless him.....I feel that his timing was great. And by that I mean his entrance into Sonic Youth, as well as his exit. Sonic Youth are not worse off without Jim.

Mako 12.14.2009 04:11 PM

Oh I agree but like the addition too
