Desert Island Discs.
An old idea, but a good one.
You choose eight songs (not albums) that you would take with you on a desert island. You also choose one book (you already have the Encyclopeadia Brittanica and the Bible - according to the rules) and an object (that can operate without electricity). You already have a stereo that's battery powered or something. |
Question : without electricity how could you listen to the songs/records??
I'll post a decent list as soon as I can think about something good for me... |

Well, if I'm only going to get 8 songs, I'm going to shoot for loooong mostly (though no "Close to the Edge"...)
Sun Ra - "Atlantis" Sonic Youth - "Diamond Sea" Autechre - "Drone" (from the Peel Session) Can - "Oh Yeah!" Lou Reed - "Metal Machine Music" (arguably a single "song", but if I have to look at it as 4 songs, then, I'll pick side 4) Velvet Underground - "Sister Ray" Then a couple short gems to round it out, that I could play over and over and still love: Brian Eno - "Everything Merges with the Night" Yo La Tengo - "You Can Have It All" I don't read books over very often so the book part is hard... Now Wait for Last Year by Phillip K. Dick Object: Nitrus Tank |

i approve this choice, a lot. |
I hate hypotheticals. How could I ever pick just 8 songs? I'd die listening to only 8 songs, no matter how fantastically awesome they were.
