Daydream Encore?

What I really wanna know, is what exactly do you do for an encore?

What would you LIKE to see playing and what do you THINK it will be played?

Guess I'd like to hear some new stuff but I wouldn't bet on that. Or maybe the show starting with, say, Kool Thing and Thurston going... "you fools!" :D

Knowing the main setlist beforehand, I guess this is one of the most intriguing things. After seeing how they pull DDN out, that is. :)

They play the bonus tracks of the DDN deluxe edition.

Toxa 03.23.2007 06:02 AM

silver rocket & eliminator jr

classic.

real_inhuman 03.23.2007 07:58 AM

with you without you & touch me i'm sick

kenning 03.23.2007 09:38 AM

Uh...where the energy to wipe oneself off the stage is going to come from, much less play another song, I can't fathom. DN is an extraordinarily trying album to play all the way through, especially for Steve... I think just play it, tweak it in interesting ways, and let the noise ring out.

This is the eye of the storm, its what men stained raincoats pay for, but in here it is pure...

This is Hardcore

I don't think there will be an encore at these shows, an obvious guess would be that the main set would consist of the album minus "Trilogy" (The Wonder/Hyperstation/Eleiminator Jr) which would be the encore.

it will be interesting to see how they pull this complete "album" live thing off... The Sprawl, Hey Joni, Rain King all haven't been played in my estimation since 1989!!! and may need to be relearned and could sound different. Total Trash hasn't been played mroe than probably a couple of times since like 1994...

does anyone think that they'd use the tab archive to re-learn the songs? I totally think they would.

neptuneg 03.23.2007 12:04 PM

this is all true, most of these songs haven't been played live since 1989 or early 1990. however, they were able to bring an outstanding version of Shaking Hell back which hadn't been played since 1986. I'm sure they know what they're doing... I mean, they wrote the songs.

dazedcola 03.23.2007 12:46 PM

I'd like to hear them do "within you, without you". Thats one of the best songs SY ever covered, plus its a fun little coda to the night.

LifeDistortion 03.23.2007 01:22 PM

They should just do a distortion jam for the whole thing, no vocals, just improve noise. Like jazz bands do.

Bollocks_to_Pop 03.23.2007 02:02 PM

They should for an encore play Sister or EVOL in its entirety.

greenlight 03.23.2007 02:39 PM

even they don't know yet, I'd say.

drrrtyboots 03.23.2007 02:43 PM

They should play my favorite SY song ever, What A Waste. That'll get the fans bustling.

ithinkimissyou 03.23.2007 05:33 PM

If they're playing Daydream Nation in order, then Trilogy will blow everybodies head off and they wont come back down from the rafters for a few days. Sometimes it's better to leave people wanting more.

(But if they have to do an encore: The World Looks Red & Mote & feeeeeedback)

also: I love their version of computer age

GrungeMonkey 03.24.2007 11:13 AM

I guess we'll only know what they'll do until the first few shows are played...

I would expect them to play more recent material after doing DDN if they do do an encore though...

timtimtim 03.25.2007 11:39 PM

I didn't even consider that there would be an encore

fluxequalsrad 03.26.2007 12:06 AM

setlist:
daydream nation

encore:
Powderfinger
Winterlong
Heart of Gold
Needle and the Damage Done

good choice

the ikara cult 03.26.2007 09:59 AM

I tend to think that the end of Eliminator Jr would be something of an anticlimax. Maybe something like Rain on Tin or Pink Steam or The Neutral if we're going for new stuff would be a better way to end the gig.
this is all minor detail of course, i dont care what they do after the end. I'll be too busy smiling.
