Tim Buckley Appreciation Thread

a voice like velvet sex, mad guitar skills. i've been listening to tim a lot lately, the early folky stuff and his funky rock stuff is awesome, too. anyone else?

I likes Tim Buckley. An amazing talent, though some of his more "produced" stuff appeals less to me personally.

Jeff Buckley I cannot stand. Not even for one second.

Buckley's "Once I Was" is played during the concluding scene of the movie "Coming Home" and its one of the most emotional statements ever put to film.

The period from Goodbye & Hello to Starsailor is awesome. I don't like his funk period as much.

He was a great performer live (Dream Letter live in London and the Peel Sessions are magnificent), and it's a pity he's very often underrated as a songwriter while he was so talented.

Bump

There aren't many Tim Buckley fans here apparently :(

sonikold 04.05.2006 05:08 PM

that's too bad. they're missing out.

Torn Curtain 04.09.2006 05:28 PM

I bump this thread because I'm listening to Live at the Troubadour right now, Lee Underwood is such a brilliant guitarist (a French magazine said he was Tom Verlaine's favorite guitar player, I don't know if it's true), it's too bad he's not known more.

Lee Underwood is on the left.

Lee Underwood on the Starsailor Yahoo group:

Quote:

Rick Fuller, a film producer out of Minneapolis, is working together with Evan Cohan of Manifesto Records, to produce a DVD featuring video footage of Tim and videotaped interviews with a number of people Tim knew, including Larry Beckett and myself. Don't know when it will be released.

Looking forward to it!

Lee

I'd recommend Happy Sad or Dream letter live in London 1968.
