This was as I was paying for parking this morning coming to work.

a haircut? come on!

that's why I always carry scissors with me at all times.

Bums sometimes say the saddest things.

I tend to try to give all homeless people the benefit of the doubt.

so do I, and I appreciate honesty as well, but fuck a haircut. If you ask me for a $1 to get a miller high life 16oz I will gladly help

I've never had a bum ask me for $$$ for a haircut.

Then again though, I understand that if a bum is going to get a job, they need money to be able to clean up their appearance.

I don't get any sort of real conversation with bums. I just get "HAY GRL U SO PRETY, GIMME A DOLLAR PLZ." It's like, you called me pretty, shouldn't I be the one getting a dollar? Jus' sayin'.

maybe they've just been laid off from Wal*Mart or as roadie for NOFX.

I know most of the homeless around downtown. This guy was new. a roving BUM. dirty but with decent clothes.\
and about 30 yrs old.

I find it funny, how all of a sudden it hits Middle-Class people and we have to get worried. I say fuck that.

I always keep ones in my pocket for the less-fortunate. and hey, if the dude wants a beer more power to him! if you are sleeping on the streets with no resources, no options, no hope, what else IS THERE to spend two or three bucks on but some brews or if you come up on a few more bucks some crack? I mean hey, we ALL need to get high ;)

true but without a legal residence or a phone you can not get a job to get back on yr feet and you inevitably find yourself doing NOTHING all day and are about NOTHING. When I was volunteering on skid row I discovered that the thousands of people there were all about doing one thing with their lives, a unanimous sentiment of "nothing"





ahh.. the row, a bunch of mofos 'bout nothin, but there is a lot of fun and even wisdom there too.. I enjoyed working there surprisingly..

being homeless breeds apathy and hopelessness.

then of course when you are homeless YOUR VERY LIFE is a crime to the system.. they just keep arresting you so that you have to move around, but where to go?

In reality, with nearly 170,000 homeless people in Los Angeles (and that is a HEADCOUNT, not an estimate :( ) skid row is no different a problem than the favellas or Rio or Nairobi

and you already have been an offender, it's very difficult to get a job that will get you off the streets.

and yes, to apply for jobs/submit a security deposit/pass a credit check etc. you need a certain amount of resources
