Maybe Mental

I was blog surfing and came about two records by this band on the Alegory for Allergies blog. No information was offered other than the players involved, and three of those players were these fellas by the names of Alan Bishop, Richard Bishop, and Charles Gocher. It was listed under industrial. I havn't listened yet, about to do that right now. But, anything Sun City Girls related, especially something I've never heard of, definitely needs to get mentioned.

The first one is from 1982 called "Over Dark Harbors" and he players are Alan, Doug Clark, and W. David Oliphant.

the other one is from 87 called "Lotuses on Fire", and appears to be more of a grand collab album like Tower Recordng used to be with different members in flux: Alan Bishop (tracks: 7, 8)
Charlie Gocher (tracks: 4 to 10)
Cowboy Rick (tracks: 11)
David Oliphant
George Dillon (tracks: 11)
Kerry Kugelman (tracks: 11)
Rick Bishop (tracks: 7)
Ron Rexless (tracks: 11)
Su Ling Oliphant (tracks: 3, 6, 8, 10)

now im listening to the first one, industrial is fitting enough. there is also some AMM-fractured improvisaton, ritual atmospherics, chanting, and oh yeah you know its psychedelic. very interesting.

what the fuck. Thanks for this. Never even heard of it, I don't think it's on the sun city girls page last I looked... I'm pretty familiar with their side projects.. paris 1942, joke flower, square9, their collabs with eddie detroit, new session people, their stuff with cerberus shoal and messenger girls trio and so on... but this is new to me. thanks!

I have a split album they recorded in '86 with Controlled Bleeding called "Halved" ... it's pretty fucking amazing.
