Word, that's his best song from what I've heard from him. French and Kodak had great chemistry and flowed well throughout the track.

Ugh. Booooring. Some day you should tell me what, specifically, you hate about Kanye's production. Y'know, just for kicks. Pretend listening to and critiquing music is as important as reading and critiquing literature. I'd be genuinely interested to hear a substantive critique from you if you ever care to give one.

some people just don't like Kanye. shouldn't be new news. why should Rob like him? why should anyone love him or hate him? it's common knowledge that the guy is musically attractive to some but realistically revolting to others. he's a celeb creep of the highest order regardless if you think it's all apart of his ironic musical game. which it is and is cool and all, but it's not very lasting in the long run. I mean, we with bioelectrical fluids running through our brains can see this. his music shocks, enthralls, and stimulates the same way every other boundless artist has done since giving the chance of attention. how do we as a society move on from this 21st century chaos? do we find god? do we kill ourselves? pretend the trailer trash whore next door is a porn star? ignore it, become them, living through vicariously with them in the heat of modern pop? or just simply move on with our worthless lives worshiping iconic music stars?

I ask you this? who am I? how do I recover from the vocoder solo on Runaway? I can't. I failed in life because I can't and you can. hail Yeezus!!!! I gave up everything for you. my soul and my gen X poisoned mind is yours to take.

It's fine if someone doesn't like Kanye. Life would be ducky of absolutely everyone loved the guy.

I'm just saying this: SFAD, when he criticizes Kanye, at least occasionally offers up some actual first hand anecdotal experience that informed his hatred. He's listened to the music and he doesn't dig it. Cool! Whatever.

Rob just says "fuck Kanye, Kanye's fat, fuck Kanye, Kanye sucks," over and over again ad infinitum, never mentioning anything other than the guy's choice in women, and celeb tweet horseshit.

Kanye West is a skilled producer. Love him or hate him, he is not entirely without worth, because he absolutely, factually, possesses skills in this area. To suggest that fucking FRENCH MONTANA (of all people) sounds good only because Kanye wasn't involved in the production (which he's never been, to my knowledge) is just dumb,

Btw: I'm pretty sure you love "Runaway," vocoder and all.

I'm not hating, or demanding anyone share my beliefs. I'm just giving Rob shit for throwing his critical thinking skills completely out the window when it comes to this subject. He knows he could do better, and he doesn't. That alone deserves some friendly ribbing.

As to the other things you're saying... there are no words.

He did the 'big' songs off every album.. Stronger, All Falls Down, N.I.P., Don't Like, Runaway of course, many more.. the audio engineering was messed up (seems like a thing when I go to hip-hop shows, me and my luck), but it didn't stop me from having a hella good time.

Thanks dude. I didn't see this until just now.

Yesterday I asked my girlfriend (jokingly) what she thought the chances were that Jay and Bey would drop in at our show. She said hopefully no chance.

I didn't talk to her for a while.

As long as "Runaway" is likely to be played, I'm fucking pumped. Though I can't imagine that track without Pusha. Hopefully Pusha and Chance open the set. And now I'm dreaming... or becoming delusional.

I make fun of Kanye because I think he is a walking joke. I hate his rap "voice." Kanye makes records that blow white kids minds, which is not saying much.

louder 07.08.2016 07:41 AM

New Schoolboy Q is definitely his best album. Blows Oxymoron out of the water.

louder 07.08.2016 07:42 AM

Maxwell's new album is great as well!!

Fine, fine. Sonic Youth blows our white ass minds, but whatever.

Severian 07.09.2016 05:51 PM

Pssh... you love "Runaway" and you know it.

noisereductions 07.09.2016 09:32 PM

I have to admit, I really like the new Bieber stuff.

I've been hearing that a lot lately, from a lot of unexpected places, but I swear to god, NR, I never expected to hear it from you.

I respect your honesty though, as always. There's something about you and your absolute refusal to give one tenth of a fuck about what anyone around you thinks that I find truly refreshing. You just don't fucking apologize for liking what you like. That's pretty much what being into art is all about.

That said, I can't agree. I can't even listen to "Juke Jam," the Chance track with Bieber on it. I can't listen to Kanye's Bieber collab circa 2010 (or whenever). I can't stand that boy. I might be willing to forgive the "one less lonely n***er" bullshit given time and a sincere apology. I might be able to forgive the haircuts. I might even be able to forgive the fact that he embodies knowing appropriation of "hood" culture by jackass white kids everywhere — the spiritual successor to Eminem — if only his music had something interesting to offer. If only his voice didn't activate my gag reflex.

I mean, after all, what's my whole schpeal on Kanye based on? Disregarding and eschewing the guy's public image and identity completely, and focusing simply on the fact that he makes sounds that make me happy. But Bieber doesn't do that. Not for me. And I can't wait until he disappears from the conversation entirely.

noisereductions 07.10.2016 04:52 PM

I really don't know anything about HIM to be honest. I've liked songs in the past. I liked "Boyfriend." I liked "As Long As You Love Me." But his new album is just really solid beach music. Y'know? Kind of mindless but catchy as fuck. I like it the same way I like a lot of recent pop music. It doesn't really matter who is performing it to me. It just sounds good to my ears without having to think too hard.

I mean, the new Ariana Grande will possibly end up in my end of year Top 10 so whateves

I feel that. I get eye rolls when I tell people I like Rihanna (people are dumb, think Rihanna and Bey are Britney Spears), but fuck 'em. I'm not always in the mood for Fucking Ambarchi and O'Rourke. In fact, I am frequently not in that kind of mood.

I bobbed my head like crazy when I heard "The Great Escape" by Gwen Stefani the other day during a root canal. Maybe it was the painkillers and gas, but I'm pretty sure the song's dope, no matter how dumb it is.

Bieber just doesn't sound good to me at all. I can't do his voice. And I can do some despicable voices. I listen to "Waves" after all, which is just basically Chris Brown singing over a killer beat. But Bieber just doesn't do anything for me.

And God help the little guy, I hope he lives a long and fruitful life of not making music of any kind ever again. ;)

noisereductions 07.10.2016 09:13 PM

Gwen's first solo album was better, but I enjoyed Great Escape a lot. I liked No Doubt quite a bit back in the day as well.

In other news...

JAY Z released his first new song in over three years this week with "spiritual," a pre-Dallas protest song about police brutality.
I haven't heard it yet because I no longer subscribe to TIDAL (hoping against hope that Apple acquires it, which would solve a lot of logistical problems for me).

Future inked a deal with Reebok, but who cares.

Blink-182 unseated Drake from the #1 spot on the billboard charts. Again, who cares?

Aaaaand... um.. Fuck, I don't know.

louder 07.10.2016 11:36 PM

Finally gave Still Brazy a proper listen.. it's better than My Krazy Life in my opinion.

Miguel made a political song as well.. well it was actually a demo, and he said he'll keep updating the song every week until it's ready (you-know-who influence, anyone? ;)): https://soundcloud.com/miguel/how-many-ruff-1

Yeah.. boring. And now Drake wants to make a collaborative mixtape with Gucci. Again, boring.
