Update from demandprogress.org:

Quote:

June 11. That's the day net neutrality will go away, after the FCC sided with AT&T, Verizon and Comcast against 86% of Americans to repeal Title II net neutrality protections.

Now we have another important date to share with you. Wednesday, May 16. That’s the day we are 99% sure the CRA resolution to save net neutrality will be voted on in the Senate.

Will you help win Wednesday’s vote? Tell Senators to vote YES on the resolution to save net neutrality.

Thanks to the entire Democratic caucus, and the support of Senator Susan Collins of Maine, we have 50 Senators in support of overturning the FCC and saving net neutrality.

We just need one more vote to win in the Senate. What happens over these next few days will determine whether the internet is controlled by you, or Big Cable.

You better believe that lobbyists for Verizon, Comcast, and AT&T are doing a full court press with members of Congress right now. So we have to bring our A game too.

Click here to tell the Senate to overturn the FCC and save net neutrality. DEADLINE: Wednesday.

Then, forward this email to someone you know. A friend, co-worker, your dog’s vet. Anybody who you enjoys the free and open internet as much as you do.

We are soooo close to victory. Small businesses across America are fired up and standing with us. Your favorite sites like Reddit, Etsy, Vimeo, and Medium are telling their visitors to contact Congress. People are protesting at Senate and House offices all over the country on May 14th.

If we push really hard now, we can save net neutrality for good without any complicated legislative maneuvers. If we don’t go all in, saving net neutrality becomes a heck of a lot harder.

This is one of the most consequential votes Congress has taken on net neutrality and internet freedom in years. We can win this vote. We only need one more senator to win.

So drop everything you are doing right now and sign this petition. Make sure the Senate hears all of us, loud and clear.

We have only until Wednesday: Tell the Senate to overturn the FCC and save net neutrality.

There's been much concern about President Trump;s pullout from the JCPOA last week, so i thought I'd share with you the views of Josh Gottheimer, a Democratic representative from New Jersey and former Bill Clinton speechwriter abd Hillary Clinton and John Kerry campaign adviser:

Gottheimer Stands Strong Against Iran Deal

Washington, May 8, 2018

Today, Congressman Josh Gottheimer (NJ-5) released the following statement regarding the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action:

“I opposed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in 2015, because while it may have placed temporary limits on certain aspects of Iran’s nuclear program, it did not permanently preclude Tehran’s pathway to the bomb. It also failed to address Iran's aggressive development of long-range ballistic missiles to deliver these nuclear weapons. These facts remain true today.

“Since the deal’s implementation, Iran has reaped the benefits of sanctions relief, twice skirted the agreement’s limitations on heavy water, and continued to flaunt its refusal to allow international inspectors access to military sites under the JCPOA’s weak inspections regime. Iran has violated international law by testing long-range ballistic missiles and transferring weapons to terrorist groups, including Hezbollah and Hamas, and Iranian proxies in Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, and Yemen. But even if Iran were to fulfill all its obligations, the sunsets in the JCPOA would still permit Iran to resume its nuclear program within years."

“stop saying the trump era is not normal”

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/...n-here-before/

Slavery, the Klan, Jim Crow, the Klan again. Internment of Japanese Americans. Gender discrimination and scientific racism. McCarthyism. George Wallace. All leading to a president whom Meacham considers “an heir to the white populist tradition,” a leader eager to undermine the law, the truth and “the sense of hope essential to American life.”

Trump is normal in that he embodies recurring maladies of American public life; perhaps the main anomaly is that he brings so many of them together. Such historical awareness can comfort, especially if you believe, as Meacham does, that every generation considers itself under siege and that, with the right leadership, Americans usually find a way forward rather than back. “The good news is that we have come through such darkness before,” he writes. “All has seemed lost before, only to give way, after decades of gloom, to light.”

Of course, if you’re living in the gloom, awareness of historical patterns bestows limited consolation. It might, however, inject small doses of those qualities that latter-day resistance requires: Inspiration. Patience. Even humility.

Isn't it strange that he said this, but elsewhere it is said that inspections were not refused, and Iran followed the rules of the deal.

Which "truth" do we follow?

Here's an NPR article from last year that pretty much explains the issue:

Access To Military Sites Debated As White House Reconsiders Iran Nuclear Deal

Unfortunately, it doesn't lend itself to quotations in relevant part, so you'll just have to read the whole thing, but what I get out of it is that IAEA Director-General Yukia Amano is willing to allow less-than-full-compliance pass as full compliance.

In any case, the Iranians may keep the deal going to please the EU.

Skuj 05.14.2018 11:21 AM

What does Obama and EU know that we don't? OK I'll read that.....

I've always —even before the Trumpocalypse— hated Kushner and Ivanka for being parasitic famous-for-being-famous CROOKS, but today was the first day I simply couldn't stand the sight of them on TV anymore — it literally (and I literally mean LITERALLY) made me nauseous.

Updated overview: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016%E...i n_Netanyahu

Netanyahu was fighting for his political survival and Trump made it golden for him by getting out of the JCPOA and moving that repulsive motherfucking embassy to Jerusalem. Nothing like fearmongering (Iran and Hamas will rape us! They will RAPE US!) to get your poll numbers up, cry witchhunt, blame the media and try to discredit the Chief of the Israeli Police and the country's Attorney General... both of whom were appointed by Bibifuck himself — sounds familiar?

Europe, Iran say push to save nuclear deal off to good start

BRUSSELS (AP) — Major European powers and Tehran committed Tuesday to keep working together to save the Iran nuclear deal despite U.S. President Donald Trump's determination to kill it off. European Union foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini and the foreign ministers of Britain, France and Germany said after talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif that salvage efforts focused on economic, business and banking issues could produce "practical solutions in the next few weeks"

I'm trying to square that CNN link with the stuff below it. Sorry....not seeing it.

"Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, serving as Acting Attorney General due to the recusal of Attorney General Jeff Sessions, authorized Mueller to investigate and prosecute "any links and/or coordination between the Russian government and individuals associated with the campaign of President Donald Trump," as well as "any matters that arose or may arise directly from the investigation" and any other matters within the scope of 28 CFR 600.4 – Jurisdiction.["

You cannot say that there is no evidence of collusion yet, because the fucking report isn't finished, is it?

Collusion with a foreign adversary to affect the election isn't illegal? Kill me now.

How can Mueller KNOW all this when he is starting an INVESTIGATION?

Fuck me.

Lumping all Trump supporters together with the Klan, Jim Crow Dixiecrats, George Wallace and FDR (all Democrats, by the way) is as uncalled for as lumping all Socialists together with Stalinists, or lumping all Democrats together with the Klan, Jim Crow Dixiecrats, George Wallace and FDR.

Concerning Trump's recognition of Jerusalem as Israel's capital:

Democrats may be approaching a turning point on Israel

"Over the last two cycles, Israel has become a divisive issue in the Democratic Party platform. Only at President Barack Obama's insistence in 2012 was Jerusalem recognized as the capital of Israel. Even with his backing, there was a contentious floor voice vote."

The latest message from Demand Progress regarding Net Neutrality Title II:

Quote:

WE DID IT! Thanks to your relentless activism, Senators Lisa Murkowski and John Kennedy have just joined Susan Collins and the entire Senate Democratic caucus and voted to overturn the FCC and save net neutrality!

They said it was a lost cause. They said that Big Cable's pockets were too deep and their lobbyists were too powerful. But you proved them wrong.

This is not over yet. Now the battle moves to the House of Representatives—where we have an even bigger fight. But with Republicans facing a tough midterm election and polls showing that 86% of voters support net neutrality, we can win.ą

Will you chip in $5 to continue the fight to save net neutrality?

The battle in the House is going to take several more months. By making a regular monthly donation, you will sustain this urgent campaign all the way through, building on today's massive victory.

The Senate's vote sent a strong message to Big Cable, Ajit Pai, and the White House—we aren't going to roll over and let them destroy the free and open internet.

And make no mistake, it took a lot of hard work on the part of our members to get to this point. When the FCC first proposed gutting net neutrality, 21 million people submitted comments, and the vast majority opposed the repeal. We helped drive millions of emails and phone calls to Congress. We staged rallies at their offices as recently as Monday.

This was how we won over the Senate. We got all 49 Senate Democrats to stand united, which is never a sure thing. And we got three Senate Republicans to join us, which is a huge accomplishment.

Now it’s on to the House. And while we only needed a few Republicans in the Senate to win, we need 24 in the House. That means organizing in many more places across America—with only a few months to pull it off.˛

But there's too much at stake to stop now. If we lose, mega-corporations such as Verizon and Time Warner will be able to throttle, and worse, censor the internet at will, and we just cannot let that happen.

This is the fight of our lives. We've won the first vote—now it's time to win the whole thing. Will you commit to fighting with us until the end?

Yes, I'll chip in $5 to help save net neutrality.

Thanks for standing with us.

Robert Cruickshank,
Demand Progress

We have a Judge in Virginia cracking the judicial whip at the Department Of Justice demanding to know what the DOJ is up to because they are soooooo outside the scope of what they are authorized to investigate......me, myself and I consider what they are doing a Witch Hunt.

So two plus years and millions later and Muller is growing tired of being worked over by the judicial whip......the investigation is dead in the water and Muller is so desperate, his team makes contact with Rudy Giuliani to confirm that a sitting President cannot be indicted.

Didn’t Bill Clinton teach us that 20 years ago?

I could be 100% wrong, but I believe President Donald Trump will not be impeached and he will easily win re-election.

While I understand some in Congress are saying they have evidence that Russia wanted Trump to win over Hillary......and possibly Russia colluded with someone to help this happen:

A) you haven’t seen this evidence.

B) as I stated above, Nothing-ZERO-No evidence that the Trump campaign colluded.

!@#$%! 05.18.2018 08:10 AM

of course we haven’t seen this evidence, this is why there’s an investigation— to find out if there’s any

because there are clear suspicions

and unlike other people in this thread i’m not affirming apriori that there’s any— i’m just saying let the investigation proceed and then we’ll see.

if at the end they find nothing then they find nothing.

but let’s not anybody count their chickens yet cuz that’s foolish.

Skuj 05.18.2018 12:26 PM

For the upteenth time, the investigation is continuing, and Mueller has said nothing, so how the fuck do we KNOW that there is no evidence?

We are just going to keep doing this over and over again, aren't we?
