It's cald "Our Band Could Be Your Life" and has 500 pages and divided into the following chapters:

-Mission of Burma
-Butthole Surfers
-The Minutemen
-Black Flag
-Husker Du
-Minor Threat
-THe Replacements
-Sonic Youth
-Big Black
-Fugazi
-Mudhoney
-Beat Happening (Which I am very interested in hearing more stuff from)
-Dino Jr.

not bad if you ask me! I'm pretty Hardcore/ Punk/ No-wave illiterate, so the book helps a lot

That seems like a cool book.

It's pretty good! It was written by Michael Azerrad and I'm not a big fan of his writing style (he did one of the Nirvana Books), but it's plenty informative

best black flag album? is that even a valid question? there is ONE answer.

MY WAR!

Thomas Moronic 12.17.2006 06:36 AM

The first four years. Nice and sketchy.

Well... First Four Years wasn't really an album, just a collection of all their early EP's. But if you're counting it as an album for the poll then my vote most certainly goes to that. However, Damaged would be, indisputeably, not even opinion-based really, the BEST Black Flag ALBUM.

Personally, I prefer the First Four Years and Everything Went Black over Damaged, but Damaged is an album and also comes together as an album the best out of all of them.

Second would go to Slip It In, which I've always preferred just an incy bit above My War, which would be third.

After that, I'd choose either Loose Nut or In My Head, which both had great tracks as well as some weak ones.

If I could place the Process of Weeding Out EP in the lineup, I'd put it right after My War.

Next I'd say Family Man, which I really like. A lot of people hate the Flag's instrumental stuff but I can't get enough of it. Greg Ginn has his shit together.

Keith Morris is incredibly underrated as a performer and vocalist as far as I'm concerned.

It's not a proper album, just a compilation. And only girls like compilations.

Androol 12.24.2006 08:01 AM

yeah but it was a choice! youre not getting away with this that easily.

Androol 12.24.2006 08:02 AM

I appear to have blocked from the Black Flag page on Facebook for a comment I made about Bad Brains.

And it's still Damaged.

At this point, I only have Process of Weeding Out on vinyl, and Everything Went Black on CD. I just got Process last year, it's got cool quasi-jazz guitar and strange jams... jazz fusion and the Dead filtered through hardcore damaged brains...
